Default Project- Blu-by-u

Picked up this 96 Cherokee Classic today. Was feeling outta sorts from selling my 95 last week, wondering if I had done the right thing but driving this home from the horse trader, I realized that Blu-by-u is gonna be a sweet build! Stand by as I dig in...
Details so far - Has 170k on 4.0L, 5spd. I had the broken windshield replaced ($210) before I picked it up this afternoon. Got it home, charged the AC (it took!) Needs front tires before I get it inspected, so guess thats first on the list. Then tomorrow will be picking up Grand Cherokee front seats I am purchasing from OverlandXJ (from this forum). The inspection and tires will happen before I make the drive to pick those seats up, OH also replacing the headliner with material I ordered from WLSHeadliners.com....enough for now!

Great looking classic. Great price too. How are the floors in that bad boy? Tough to find good floors in PA.

Floors are great, no rust holes. The only issue I saw top and bottom was that I need to take care of some flaking undercoat on the bottom side.

Default Grand Cherokee Seat install & Headliner/Overhead Console/Sound Bar Re-Upholstery

Seat install - bought seats from OverlandXJ (Thanks again!), took out old seats, cleaned carpeting and middle console, installed seat tracks from 96 Jeep Cherokee onto Grand Cherokee seats, installed Grand Cherokee seats into 96 XJ.

Reupholstered the headliner - 3 day job. Day one, took out overhead console, soundbar, then headliner and cleaned (removed fabric and removed old foam using stiff nylon brush) Day two, I used fiberglass resin (with catalyst added) to strengthen the back of the headliner board. I also cleaned overhead console and the sound bar and glued and recovered. Day three I installed the headliner (seatbelt bolts were a biotch...) and installed the console and sound bar. Below are the results!

Default Tires and emissions/safety stickers

2nd day of ownership, picked up some tires from Manny, Moe and Jack. $520.00 for 4 All Terrain 30X9.50X15's. The Jeep had 2 MT's in back (which I am reselling, still good!) and 2 AT's that were bald. Today I had the Jeep inspected for emissions and safety, passed with flying colors. Next on my list is the clutch....

It was a very straight forward swap, the seat brackets lined up perfectly, slide like new and am not sure of year of GC? I did break the rear outside bolts that go through underneath on both seats, will have to tap and fix. OverlandXJ - do you know year of seats? Thanks!

I had the same seat bolts break on my jeep. I heated them up from the underside and used a set of vice grips to turn them out form the bottom.
