Well, I have had my xj for about a year and i figured i would start a build thred. I bought a 2000 xj sport with 85000 miles for around 4500 bucks.
I wasnt a huge fan of the white, so i was going to get it painted. But then I decided to save my money and just role with the black and white theme untill the clear coat wore off then ill jsut pant it a desert tan or something. heres when I first bought it |

Then I got really sick of the gray plastic so.... I painted it. Didnt really do well, so its getting repainted this spring.

After all the painting drama went down I wanted to start to upgrade the sound system in the ol jeep. I got the headdeck ipod cable and harness for 110. New speakers and possibly subs soon to come depending on how soon I want my lift.

So I got all this and thought I was happy....NOT! I got bit by the jeep bug hard and had to get some cragar soft 8s. Needless to say there awsome. they stuck the tires out a bit and made the jeep more aggressive.

I even installed some fancy autozone seat covers, and a set of rubber floor mats! Oh and a redneck took box. nest on the list is a rustys 4.5" lift kit with 32s and a homebrew bumper, roofrack, and a cargo area flooring mod. I also want to get some bush wackers.

I LOVED my old white XJ, the black and white theme was my fave so far..
How much lift are you planning? |

I hoping to go with 4.5" full leaf spring kit but gas milage is starting to make me lean towards a 3" kit cause I drive on the road a lot more than on trails. But i really really want 4.5" with 32s

You wont see much of a differance in MPGs going with a 4.5 and 32s you still could go with a 31" and full trim and a 4.5. If you want the 4.5 do not settle for a 3" you will not be happy.

I currently have a 4.5 RE super flex kit w/leafpaks and had 32s now 33s. Before this set up I had a 3" skyjacker w/32s. No real differance in gas miliage between the two. If it were my decision I would chose your orginal idea of 4.5 and 32s.

I got a real quick question. would I have to trim to fit 32s if i had a 4.5" lift? oh and i thought of another reason to not get the 4.5"...i would have to get a sye or a hack n tap and i dont know if i wanna do all that.

i would stick with a 3 inch over a 4.5 just because when wen you higher than a 3 inch theres a lot more things you need to worry about like the SYE, driveshaft, control arms, track bar, brake lines etc... with a 3 inch you dont have to worry about all those things as much. and you can still fit 31s.

I'm running 3 inches with 33's and no trimming so a bigger lift and smaller tires (4.5 inches with 32's) will not need trimming.
