Well due to unusable backing, I just ordered a complete headliner from SMS.

Just got all my engine parts back from machine shop and assembled. .040 bore, new pistons, port n polished head, .020 shaved off head. Three angle valve job as well. Neighbors think I have a V6 swap in it. Lol

Also picked up a spare transmission

It took me about three and a half hours to set the block, install head n manifolds and hook everything back up.

Now to track down two electrical gremlins. 1) Why my HVAC & Blower are not working and 2) Why my windshield wipers don't work.

 lmao. Yes boys n girls the dreaded manifold crack can even happen to 4cys as well. Was letting the motor idle some more to break in when I heard a metal pop sound followed by the sound of exhaust leak. Yup, she cracked right between cyl 2&3 at the collector. Just gonna take her off and weld her up tomorrow untill I can get a chance to pick up my header and muffler.

Little progress. First off, my blower motor and windshield wipers weren't working due to bad switches. Good thing I still got my Xj to rob parts from.
Second thing I got a chance to get a new muffler. Went with a stainless Magnaflow unit. Sounds good. Not loud and not whisper quiet either.
Third, got my manifold welded back up.

Alright, little update. Screw the 4 banger, I've now got a Chevy 350 to drop in. (Quote Tim Allen "More Power!") Advance Adapters makes a bell housing kit to bolt to my AX-15 and a set of motor mounts. With Jeep Beach 2015 around the corner I'm hoping to have it in, tuned and lift installed.
