Got the tcase skid in, hopefully gonna work on getting the rest of the belly pan in tomorrow. After gears and axles go in, I'm gonna try and get the sliders in with plating from frame to rockers. should be able to take a beating on the underside to say the least

But once out on the road it's not really any more noticeable than in the summer. Of course around corners may get a bit squirrelly, but this is far from my dd lol. But yea price difference is crazy, which is why I'm opting for a $60 spool instead of a $600 locker. My tax return is good, but not that good after $1000 in gears lol
That's kinda what I've always figured. That's really the only reason I've not looked into luchbox/spool style lockers but now I'm gunna consider it on my next build. Obviously not as much as you, but we get plenty of snow around here and I'm perfectly comfortable driving in it. I've always kind of wondered how many of the die hard "cant have a lunchbox if you may encounter snow" people are the same ones who do 25 on the highway if there's frost in the grass? Or maybe the ones who stop on hills in the ice? Thanks for your opinion, I'll take your word for it and maybe save $800 next time lol!

in all honesty it comes down to how well you know and how comfortable you are in your rig. We get conditions here that get people going 25 on the highway where I can still go 65 and have no problems lol. Being able to control your jeep and know exactly what it will do before you get there are key. I mean if ya really have to, install the spool and take it out to an empty parking lot and see what it'll do that your comfortable and how to get it out of situations you aren't. i suppose it's no different than people complaining about running bias ply tires in the winter. I've actually seen them do very very well once they warm up, they stick reaaaal well lol

If I really have to???? lol "No officer I wasn't drifting around for fun, I promise I'm just trying to get used to my spool...."

I'm fairly certain I will "Have to" but strictly for safety reasons

Had a lil present dropped off today, just waiting on the brackets. Got the d44 brackets and truss all done and painted as well as the 8.8. Pretty stoked on how quickly it's all coming together

Got the 44 all finished up on the outside. Now to finish the inside. Also pulled the rear carpet and found an unexpected surprise after how the rest of the jeep looked. Picked up a flaring tool so I can get some custom lines made up for the 8.8

looks a lot better than what it did when I got it that's for sure lol... really only kept it to mount my upper link without welding it to the pumpkin. And I was very surprised at how clean it was compared to the rest. Now to sand it all down and rhinoline it all haha

With the weather warming up a tad, I can comendeer the garage for a few days to get the 44 in. Gonna work on tearing it all down tonight. Just have to figure out the front brake situation as well as order lines for the rear axle

Well the easy part is over.... now just have to build the steering, drag link, get the brakes done, finish the upper link, and get the gears in... lol minor stuff. But the money for the stock axles is more needed than the Dana 44 sitting in the garage not under the jeep

So should be ordering gears and everything this coming weekend. Gonna try and get the upper link squared away and the track bar figured out so I can atleast put this on it's own weight. Have the drag link and tie rod tubing on its way. Should be coming together here very quickly followed by some spring time wheeling
