Ya I know its only a matter of time before it starts leaking. Thats why I ordered a heater core earlier this week haha. After rebuilding and putting the back engine in, I am getting pooped out and need a break. You know how fun heater cores are... Not looking forward to it any time soon. That is why I was hoping someone would convince me to continue flushing it until the water stayed clear, if thats even possible.

I saw that you ordered a core... Are you still getting big chunks that could lodge in the radiator tubes? If not I'd run it until I got fired up again. lol

Nope, no chunks at all. Just really rusty looking brown water. I think I am going to run another bottle of flush through it for a few days. If that doesnt work, I will bypass the heater until I decide to tackle the core job. That way I can get some actual coolant in there to prevent even more rust. I am thinking that the first flush really didnt get into the core since it was so clogged to begin with. Now that its actually flowing some water, the flush might work. Worth a try right?

I would think the dash lights are all you need for heat in SoCal. Block it off and drain it...call it done.

Well shoot, that means I shouldnt do the led conversion! All heat would be lost!

In all honesty, I only have 2 reasons to want a working heater. The most important, the other half will be driving the Jeep for a while. She cant stand the cold. The other is for the defroster. Might get a bit chilly with the defrost on and no heat.

I am a bit east of the coast. Coastal weather is always the same year round. My parents keep their boat in the long beach marina and every time I go down there, the weather is the same. The time of the year doesnt matter. My location is quite odd. I dont live in the mountains (at the base instead. Look at some of my pictures and you will see what I mean), but I get close to the same weather as the mountain dwellers, just a bit warmer. If its snowing or raining in the mountains, its raining at my house yet sunny when I get to work. You go 1 mile south of my house and the weather is completely different. Its crazy and makes no sense.

You know, all joking aside... I understand where your better half is coming from. Once you get acclimated to warm weather even 65 degrees can feel cold. It is the same with me... I can do 120 but when it hits 65 I'm looking for a jacket, especially if there is a breeze. lol

Alright, got all my needed parts delivered. And that would be the thermostat and heater core. I was going to do the final coolant flushes tonight but I decided to take the Jeep to work and let the flush do its magic some more. So now I dont think there will be enough time tonight for it to cool down before I can dump the nasty brown water out. When its still 70° out at 8pm, that doesnt help cool it off very fast. I just hope the water clears up for good this time.

I also got my front right lights working again. 2 of the 3 bulbs were blown and all the connectors were corroded. After soaking the connectors in CLR for a while and putting in all new bulbs, we are back in business. No more rapid fire blinkers!

Now the list is getting down to the final little things!

- Finish flushing and hope I dont need to put the new heat core in
- Put thermostat in when coolant system stays clear
- Get a blend door motor

When I was deployed, it was 140. My body got so used to it, when our tent A/C was set to 70, I had to wear a fleece.

5-speed, Jeep is coming along nicely

I absolutely understand that. And it can get so hot in the sun over there that you can't wear metal Bling.
