drivetrain > axles > tires > armor > suspension |

Yeah I was considering either a 8.25 or a d44 So u guys recommend upgrading the rear axle before goin 4wd then huh |
Yeah I'm just stuck on what I should do first, I mean of I find a trans/tcase I can still run it in 2wd till I get my axles but if I find my rear axle locked and geared then I may not even need 4wd for my kind of off roading

Wait, 93+ have no vacuum does that mean they're electronic? I prefer manual hubs but if I find an electric on is it as simple as hooking it up to a switch?

No. The non vacuum axles have different shafts that are one piece instead of two. The axle is ready to work as soon as you put it in 4wd

If i'm not mistaken all axles 91 and newer do not have the vac. disconnet.
so to correct myself, 92+ are safe. all 95+ have bigger 5-297 ujoints so they make good spares. that includes 00-01 |

Ok so mid 90s era I don't need to worry about disconnect systems

Metal Shims
I'm new to the XJ world. Mine is a 2000 2wd, automatic with a 4.0 in it. I just put a Rusty's XJ Cherokee 3" Spring Pack Lift Kit on my Jeep. I am hearing a slight grinding sound and I'm thinking its the driveshaft due to the "new" angle the driveshaft is at. I was thinking that metal shims would help. What do you think? Any suggestions on what else the grinding sound could be is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Leave it 2wd, eff the haters. What's your plan for suspension?

Well I wanna ditch my rc lift and build an engine cage for some 10" coilovers and custom control arms and mounting points Rear I plan on deaver race pack with some 12" triple bypasses Then once I find a decent rear axle I plan on trussing it |

00-01 true about the U joints but i wouldn't by the whole axlw from those years because they are low pinion... all the shafts and joints would work though

Also, holy **** dude those are waaay wide. You're gonna rip your ball joints and hubs apart.

Yeah definitely 2.5s
And yeah these are too wide, I'm scared to even go over speed bumps, I'm gonna switch em out for like 1" |
I'd just remount the rubber on your old wheels.
|
Lol Nah I can't stand my old wheels, these will look better once I get smaller adapters
|
are you missing a lug nut?

for the price of wheel adapters you can go buy those wheels. they are like $50 a piece
|
or he could buy full size axles and swap lol jk jk
|
seriously. your jeep is wider than my jeep... and i'm on fullwidths.
|
you could always go 2wd prerunner and run a ford currer van fron I beam. buddy did it on has mj. the guys on the sand rails thought he was funny until he passed them onthe wash boards.
|
Beaming it is still in my consideration list. Obviously its tons of money and fabricating to do, but so sick lol
|
If I were to beam it, my biggest challenge would be setting up the mounting points for the beams and the radius arms
