Prerunner-ish XJ

So I have had my 91' XJ for a while now, but i'm just now figuring out what I really want it to be. I love the JeepSeed race trucks, but I also like to just cruise down trails, and even hit a few mud pits on the way. So I have to decided to build my Jeep for high speed, but also make it capable of flexing down some trails
So here are some pics of what I have already done... It currently has no motor, tranny, or t-case in it... but this is what it looks like with a 2 1/2'' AAL, 2'' blocks, 4.5'' front springs, and 30x9.5 Wild Country M/Ts |

I got bored so I took a few pics of the suspension and even tried flexing it a little in the driveway
|
I decided to make a little list of things I want and need to do for this project. So that you all know what I'm trying to do
-Complete set of adjustable control arms -Swaybar links/ disconnects -shocks -Stainless braided brake lines -Hanneman fiberglass front fenders -Custom rear tube fenders w/2'' flare -5 100Watt Rooftop lights w/ light cage -Fix minor rust issues -lightweight tube bumpers w/ recovery points -34x10.50R15 Interco LTBs on some new wheels ...and of course there will be many others mods that will make it even better |
well i hope the motor is out because your upgrading to a stroker or a much largr engine...... what are your plans with that?
|
Nice start, man. Hope the project goes smoothly.

if your guna go for high speed you might not want to run a short arm set up. a lot of shock will be thrown up into the body

can you weld?
building you own will still cost 250-400 depending on what materials you use (flex joints, dom tubing, thick steel) Im at 5.25 in front and was running short arms. i do a lot of interstate driving at 75mph. pot holes sucked. i did drrop brackets and the ride is awesome, flexes way better, and pot holes are nothing. Now for high speed i dont think i would recomend them. but rock what you can afford/ build my drop brackets and control arms where free because i buit them from crap i had laying around long arms some day but flex joints run 35-50 a piece |

if your at the hieght your guna be at, you can make a set of fix control arms to get you by till later

Looks like a good start. Long arms would be your best bet for the best ride quality and ride characteristics i think.
Another thing to think about is plating the frame rails to stiffen the body up and not flex, unless you have a cage planned later on down the road. Looks like a great start up tho. |
