'That POS in the backyard' build

A few months ago, my brother got this non-running Cherokee with the intent of getting it running, and DD'ing it, but never quite managed to do anything except park it in my backyard.

Anyways, two weeks ago I rolled my Ranger, which had been my main utility vehicle for going off into the mountains and such. Coincidentally, my brother owed me some money, and decided to just give me the Cherokee, and we're square. Great news, actually, because after rolling my truck, I went and bought a 2013 Subaru BRZ. BEAUTIFUL car, amazing handling, I'd been pining over it since it came out, and figured, I just came out of a rollover accident without a scratch, I'll indulge.

Here's my truck. I don't have any pictures of the BRZ on this computer, but it's bone stock, if anyone wants to see it, I can post it, but you could google '2013 BRZ World Rally Blue' and get the same thing lol

The Cherokee will serve two very important purposes: 1. It will give me something to wrench on. The BRZ is pristine and doesn't need a Mexican like me screwing it up. 2. It will give me something to drive in the snow and into the mountains.

First thing I did is swap my old Ranger wheels onto it, they are the 'deer hoof' wheels with 2 new 31" tires in back, and 2 bald 31's in the front. I just did this because the stock ones had been spray painted black, and all mismatched sizes (two were flat).

How it sits now:

My plan is pretty simple: Make it run, get it roadworthy, take it snowboarding/mtn biking/camping all over Colorado. In no particular order.

Once it's running, I will do:
The MPG mods that are in the MPG sticky (battery cables, exhaust, injectors, electric fan, etc)
New 31's in the front to match the ones in the back
Fender trim and cheap flares to fit tires
also small lift (3"?)
snowboard rack in the winter, basket in the summer, removeable hitch bike rack in the back.
off-road bumpers for looks
install a stereo and two 10" subs for some tunes.
once the Jeep is up to it, I will drive down to my mom's place in Mexico, and have them put one of those cheap-o bondo paint jobs on it, just to make it look nice from a distance.

I'll be updating this once I get it running, in the meantime, I'll be posting in the technical section asking dumb questions :)

Looks like you're in for some fun, you'll know this thing intimately by the time you're done.

Any idea why it won't run?

The PO said it just stopped working. Real helpful.

My brother says he jump started it and it had a bad misfire. He thinks it's a headgasket.

I checked the compression and it seems ok, so I'm currently doing an MMO soak then gonna replace the plugs and start there

Lol, gotta love "it stopped working"

How do the fluids look? Any coolant in the oil? Just start going down the list, a lot of knowledgeable members of this forum, you'll get it figured out.
