Off the wall build\question...

Here's the deal, I have a 99XJ sport. just did a complete exhaust overhaul with gal banks engineering headers, magnaflo high flow cat, and flowmaster super44. I think that I have been watching a little too much of Overhaulin, starin Chip Foose. I come from a family of Drag Racers and well my mind wonders a bit so here it is the build attempt\question.......

Everyone knows what a 57 chevy custom is right??? ya know a 57 chevy with no top. perminant convertable basically... I want to make my jeep a 99 jeep cherokee custom... so basically a topless cherokee (yes i said topless!!!:brows:) son i wanted to know if anyone heard of this being done before and thoughts on the project. I will start by guttin the interior and then cuttin the top off. gettin the seats reapolstered in leather most likely. then pull the carpet and paint the interior with herculiner. weld in a rectangular box tubing rollcage and for the time being till i descide just have a net on the back hatch. My brother in law is gonna do the custom paint for me and then i will just do a simple lift maybe 4in or so. So lemme hear it what do you guys think good idea???? bad idea????:dunno:

if you know about foose than you know anything can be done, but the xj is unibody so if you cut the whole roof off you take alot of support with it, but if you got good fab skills im shur you could wing somethin.

lol, aint that the truth!!! yea that is where the rollcage is gonna come into play. as for the fab skillz well i guess we shall see!!!

Its been do before, but by a highly educated and skilled fab guy. Look for it on Pirate 4x4. He did a removable top on his and it looks awesome. However if you are not of the same calaber of craftsman, then dont do it. PS I'm being nice. Find something else to experiment on.
