Northwest Cherokee

Well I finally did something that I have wanted to do for a very long time. I went and bought a 1990 Cherokee 4.0 5 speed that has 254k miles on it. For 550. It runs like a champ and is fairly straight but could use some new doors and a fender. For the most part everything's there except for the ashtray and center console lid. It's a very good start to a project and I couldn't pass it up for the price. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask. I plan on doing a lot to this thing and can't wait to get started on it!

Here's a couple more pictures of it. The interiors almost all there and in decent shape. The engine doesn't look too bad and there is an aftermarket reservoir for the radiator which was a big plus to me when I was buying it.

What's ur plans for it?

Well I bought it so I can build a weekend wheeler/daily driver. I plan on fixing any leaks for problems with the engine first and then put a full exhaust on it to replace the rusted one on there. But after that I'm going to buy a 4.5-6in lift and some 33s and eventually paint it. Hopefully all that will be done in the next 2-4 weeks.

Well I took my jeep out after work today with some buddies and and took it up some pretty gnarly trails for a stock jeep and had some fun with it. I was very impressed and now I'm anxious to lift it so I can take it on some harder trails.

Well made the first big step towards lifting it yesterday. Bought some 32-11.5-15 kumho road venture mt's for $100. 2 are 70% and 2 are about 40%. I'm probably just going to buy 2 new ones and keep the other 2 as spares.

I also went ahead and pulled the sway bars off. The front will go back on once I get quick disconnects and lift it but the rear is staying off for good. It surprised me how much the sway are limit the travel. Hopefully I will have my lift by this weekend and put it on.

Well i haven't been on here in about a month and a lot has changed with the jeep! Well a couple of days after i bout my tires i ordered a RC 4.5" lift w/ aal and an adjustable track bar. While i waited for the lift to get here i went ahead and took the wheels off of my 2wd toyota pickup and put them on too see how they looked.Attachment 340986

About 4 or 5 very long days later i got off work and rushed home to find this Attachment 340987
So i grabbed that and headed to my stepdads shop to install it. Got out there and started about 5:30.Attachment 340988

And of course i had to take it out and test it out and got stuck for the first time with it:thumbup: Had my buddy come out with his tj and winch me out.Attachment 340996

So somewhere in the process of getting stuck and pulled out my passengers side brake like got ripped right off the caliper. So i just took a pair of vise grips and clamped off the line so that i could still have brakes. Then of course my buddy drove all the way out to winch me out so he had to take his tj through it and ended up getting stuck in the same spot i did. So we tried to just hook the winch to my jeep and winch him out. But due to there being to tow point on my jeep i decided i was just going to grab a strap and wrap it around a tree and winch from that. Well i wrap the strap around an alder that is about a foot and a half feet in diameter and step back. As soon as the winch cable pulls tight on the tree the tree snaps and the base and falls perfectly right on top of my jeep... So after standing there in disbelief i walked over to access the damage expecting it to me completely smashed but it really wasn't. i lucked out and the tree was pretty rotten and didn't weigh that much and this is all it did.

So at this point its pouring down rain and i just want to get him pulled out and get out of there so i just took the strap and wrapped it around my rear axle and started yarding on him until eventually i got him out.
