Northline's 01 Buildup
I've finally decieded to post up my build of my 2001 Cherokee Sport. My parents bought it at the end of Nov 2000, and was my mothers DD untill Oct 2007, when I bought it. It had 87,000 miles on it and already had some aftermarket parts on it.
When I bought it it had a Tera Flex 1.5 coil spacers and extended shackles, Smittybuilt Bull Bar, Infinity speakers front and rear, Pioneer headunit, and was on 30x9.5R15 Geolander AT's on 15x8 Crager Soft 8 lookalikes. It came stock with the 4.0, AW4, NP 242, Dana 30, and Chystler 8.25 rear end.
Since getting my license in Feb 2008 I have driven it everyday, on and off the road including several NJ to VA road trips, and a 2 and a half foot mud pit known as Ravine Road. It goes everywhere I could possibly want it to and I love it to death.
Ever since I moved to VA I have gotten the mechanics itch pretty bad. I want to modify and upgrade as much as I can. Being 18 year olds budget hasnt been easy but I work around it.
These upgrades are already on:
Dana 30 Solid Axle Cover
C8.25 Rockcrusher Axle Cover.
Iron Rock Offroad Rear BPE
Bedlined front bumper and bull bar
2 Pro Comp Explorer 100w offroad lights wired into stock fog light harness
Relocated Vaccum Canister
Upgrades that are without a doubt happening:
RE Super Ride 3.5 full leaf pack with adjustable track bar (Sitting in my Room waiting for a nice weekend )
Stroked Jeep 63mm Bored TB (Early easter gift, hopefully going on tommorow)
Hi Country Front D Ring mounts
Upgrades that I have planned or are still decieding on:
Bushwacker Cut out Flares
Bigger rims for either 32x11.5 or 33x12.5
Cooper Discoverer STTs
Possible SYE, Hack and Tap
4.10 or 4.56 (depends on tire size) regear with rear LSD
JCR offroad stage 3 rear bumper
Aj Armour rock sliders
Gas Tank, and T-case skid.
Any Suggestions you guys have would be greatly welcomed, inspite of all of this I have to replace my evaporator, probably do O2 sensors, maybe the head gasket or even the rear main seal.
I will get pictures up tommorow, kinda too late tonight, but I gotta say I caught the jeep bug pretty bad. I am really hoping this turns out to be a reliable DD that can wheel in alot of places come the weekend.

nice i like the dark Grey you don't see to many of them. if you want to go 33 you are going to need more then 3.5 lift and bushwackers might be better off with the 32 or some 31's and just trim the fenders

Some other pictures
Yesterday I got around to installing the Stroked Jeep 63mm Bored TB.
Nice and easy install.
Here is the old one coming off.
A quick comparision. Even though there doesnt look to be much of a difference, after doing the math there is about a 15% volume increase.
Bored on the left and stock on the right
I noticed much smoother acceleration, faster acceleration and a little more power from it. Nice easy upgrade that wont break the bank for you.

Finally got the lift kit on, got it realigned and fixed the broken shock mount so at this point i am pretty happy. Looks like my 02 sensors are shot, and that the CPS is going too based on the running issues Ive had.

Well, I found this threat after diggin around on CF a bit. Things have changed quite a bit. The running issues, and mpg problems that I were encountering ended up being a headgasket on its way out. Sometime in june 09 it gave out, and there my nightmare begins.
I took it to the dealership to have work done to it. I ended up snagging a used head that was checked out by the tech and given the go ahead to use. I feared that the original head had been cracked. The head worked.....for the whole bit of two days. It went back to the dealership, only to find out the tech had been wrong, and that the head had blown at least one possibly more valve seals. At that point I was out of money to fix it, and my parents weren't willing to help me anymore. It was still drivable, and some days ran so well you couldn't tell there was any issues with it.
My parents were however willing to cosign on a car loan for me to get something "sensible with good mpg". They talked me out of fixing the jeep right away, saying to keep it and fix it down the road. I ended up buying a very nice used Dodge stratus at the dealership.
I drove that car for two years, the whole time using the jeep sparingly during bad weather. I ended up getting a head rebuilt by Colemans machine shop (Know for building HiPo engines for Grave digger and other monster trucks). I got the head on, everything put back and it started up on the first crank. It ran beautifully........for about 5 hours.
After taking it to a mechanic that I trusted, he ripped it down and found that the camshaft had failed completely. It was missing lobes. I had two options of either cleaning it out and putting in a new camshaft, or getting a new engine. I figured that it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to fix, when cost wise It'd just be smarter to put in a new engine.
Since then Ive gotten a new engine, and it has ran pretty dam well. It gave me a weird idle that for the longest time I refused to accept as normal, but after replacing every sensor I could, the coil pack, having it professionally timed, it just seems to be a typical 4.0.
I've finally had a chance to upgrade it and make it truely special. Ill work on getting some pictures up, but new plans are in the works for getting this truck to 35s or bigger,

That's a nice looking Jeep man, love silver 2001's haha, when I got my Jeep it didn't run, I ended up putting a 1999 motor in it and it's run like a champ ever since, can't wait to see where this thing goes!!!
