New toys

This isn't much of a build but I thought this would be the better selection of the sections to post this.
I finally got my new toys in.
4.56 gears and new front axle shafts. Upgrading the gears and never installed rings and pinions before lol

Why may I ask did you get CV joint axles?

89cherokeelimited 04-22-2010 09:41 PM

They are my front axle shafts and mine are wore out badly, The u-joints are an upgrade then the ones I have

But those a CV shafts from a all wheel drive ZJ (I know I had one) There a little stronger than the small u-joint D30 but the weak link is the boots tear real easy..

x2.

Only good thing about them is they are like 50 bucks to replace the whole thing, which you will.

My friend at advanced who owns cherokees himself recommended these over the standard axle and they have a lifetime warranty. These are actually made for the XJ. According to the computer these will fit the xj and were the expensive shafts compared the standard ones the boots are very thick to I thought they would be thin but the rubber is really thick but if it rips they have a lifetime warranty I can get new ones lol these seem to rotate better then my old ones. They only ran me $155 for both

They rotate better because they are CV(Constant Velocity) joints, as opposed to a single cardan type(u-joint) will bind when at an angle greater that specified for that u-joint.

Lifetime warranties often only cover normal use which offroading is not considered normal. Advance refused to swap out my brakes because they said I used them outside their specified use (went thru 2 sets in less than a year) and refunded my money and asked me not to ever come back. Might want to check the fine print of that warranty cause it's up to the guy behind the counter whether he wants to except it or not. Also save the receipt cause their computers only go back a year.

Ya with the previous GM he wouldn't return anything. I've known the new GM for years and all the other guys my friend Mike will return stuff even if I lost the receipt lol I can only do that at advanced here Auto zone wont return anything because they know I abuse parts but my friends at advanced always code it out as a defective part lol
