Im new to the forum so i figure ill tell my story and about my jeep. i needed a rig for this summer to tow my jetskis and i decided the best fit for my budget and what i wanted was a cherokee. Luckily after only looking for a few weeks the car lot i work at took one in on trade so i bought it asap. Here is a picture of it bone stock the day i got it, And after i put the 4.5 rough country lift kit on, and finally got my wheels and tires put on with my new rear bumper and tire carrier. i went with 15x8 eagle alloys and some 32 11.50 bfg km2s. Some better pics will be up as soon as i get some time to drive it and take it out. 'Next mods i want to do will be front winch bumper with winch and some big *** lights! Also i am rubbing a little and dont want to cut my fender flares or take them out. I have never owned a jeep and need some suggestions to get this thing another inch or so higher to reduce the rubbing without buying a whole new lift kit. Thanks

i'm kind of new to this whole thing too but i'd sugest buying a 1-2inch budget boost. they are much cheaper than a whole lift kit and will give you the extra clearance you need.
oh and your xj looks really nice.

I'd say they made it like that so the licence plate didn't need to be relocated!

It looks good. I'm just not a fan of the rear hatch spare placement. But it doesn't matter what I think or like, it's yours. Have fun and enjoy it, man.

Thanks guys. And yes the spare tire is located so high so the license plate can stay where it belongs. Last night i ordered a roof bar and lights and also some spray on bed liner to do the rockers since they are a little beet up. more pics as soon as i get them all put on.

x2 on the budget lift, spacers in the front, and blocks in the rear. i would prefer shackles, i personally don't like or run blocks, but most likely that lift you purchased came with shackles? is probably the cheapest way

spacers bout 30 bucks a pair, blocks with u bolts probably about the same. i dig the hi tire (not for road use, but off-road it keeps it from draggin on steep climbs

Very nice, sorta the same look I'm going for with my 2 door..

I kinda like how hight the spare is gives you alot better departure angle..

rockhound23 05-03-2010 05:05 PM

can you see out the back window with it that high? Like blindspot issues. I'm getting old and forgetful so I'd probably kill someone changing lanes if it were me....

robbins-xj 05-03-2010 06:57 PM

Yeah its got some blind spots but nothing i cant see around. I have a back up camera and screen in an old truck that im considering installing since i will be backing down a boat launch. Its the rough country 4.5 inch lift and it came with shackles so how am i gonna get it up higher? thanks for all the feed back guys

rockhermit54 05-03-2010 07:19 PM

damn. thats my dream jeep right there. im in the process of finding my two door but its hard in this sea of four doors.

man if the rubbing isnt BAD, dont worry about it. if it is, then just cut and fix where ever its rubbing. thats my solution haha
