Default new rig

I sold my limited and picked up this sweet xj for a song and dance.

I was told its a 4.5 Rustys lift, but It sure towers over my other jeep that has big 31s and 4.5in. Its definately a rustys something, has lots of nice pieces, drop track rod, brake lines and extensions, SYE, pinion shims, shocks, t-case drop, coils up front no spacers, looks like add a leaf, shackles and 1in block in the rear. Stil has front and rear sway bars with drop brackets. I'll prob take off the rear sway bar like I always do. Has some 32x11.5 a/t that look like more of a road tire than offroad.

I'm just happy it still has all shiny paint!

heres the 4.5in on the other, looks smaller to me

tell me what you think

first off it cant have both sye n tcase drop only one or the other, n the new one does look a bit bigger but only like an inch maybe your older one is smaller or sagging.

well you could put a sye in after youve done a transfer case drop, but it would be foolish not to throw away the transfer case drop.

facepalm...

honestly I havnt even looked under it and paid attn. I wondered the same thing but I've been gone for work and havnt had time to go over it all yet besides a quick glance. I knew the guy I bought it from, and for $1600 and not needing anything but a bath, I took it and ran!

any tire suggestions? The ones on it have life left, but I can tell they are gonna suck. I still want a decent road tire...decent, but aggressive. My TSL 34x10.50s on beadlocks would be badass, but I like driving too much...I might have to trim and put them on.

so I gave in to temptation, and put the axle busters on...

trimmed the fenders just on the bottom, built a cheapo roof rack from some pep boys junk I got for free. I think it looks good. Tires are LTB 34x10.50 on beadlocks with tubes in them. Now its time to lock the rear, I think I'll buy a real locker and no weld it, maybe itll last a tiny bit longer. Honestly I prob dont HAVE to lock it now, I can run 5lb in these tires and I bet unless its flexed out and off camber, itll go where I want.

Picked up part of a Warn winch bumper on CL for $25. I took the factory bumper off, built a inner structure with 2x2 1/4wall tubing, and plated/bolted it back on, and welded the warn bumper on. Now I need to build some more bars to make it look right. You can recover from this thing no doubt

Took her out and beat on it hard. Went to wheelin in the country from wed to sun with my rock crawler buddies. Only things I couldnt hit was the hardcore ledges that there is.

Before I left I installed a Spartan locker in the rear. If you want a great streetable locker that wont let you down I reccommend it highly after getting this one.

Only problem I had was I kept pitching the rear driveshaft, I "fixed" the yoke, broke it again, installed a new stock one, and I actually grenaded one of the sides of the yoke off last ride. I'm having axle wrap problems or It wouldnt do it at all. Time to build some ladder bars to keep it from wrapping..then they will be there when I swap rear n front out for better stuff. Believe it or not, I didnt break any axles, and I was mean to it a few times. Its amazing what the tires with 8-10lb in them will do..I can just creep up anything I want including slick rocks.

Heres a couple pics
No I wasnt stuck...bents and dents

went up the right side..."the ledge"
