New Project. 99 Purple XJ.

This is my newly acquired XJ.
Has a 3" rough country lift with aal's in the rear.
Mickey Thompson 31X10.50R15LT Baja Claws.
Chrysler 8.25 Rear diff.
5 speed 4.0l
166k still goin strong.
She's lacking a muffler due to it getting caught at the bottom of an incline and wrapping around my rear axle.
Plenty of work to be done her cosmetically and mechanically of course. I am not a mechanic by any means but I can read directions and I prefer doing most things myself. As soon as winter lay offs are over I'll be gearing up and sinking plenty of money into this pig.

Now for the fixes if noticed...
For starters she needs tires real bad...not sure with what I want to go with but thats besides the point. I need to pick up some used ones real cheap. Not liking how bald my front passengers side is looking.

Attachment 327425

I've got a good amount of rot on the rocker on the passenger side that someone tried to do a bondo fix. To no avail...

Got too much clunking and popping going on for my liking. Took a peak and looks like I'll be needing new u-joints for the drive shaft and both drivers side and passengers side.

Drive shaft: ( yes there's a lot of corrosion on this shaft.)

Im not sure what I should do about this...not sure what it is really. Advice would be appreciated.

Leaf springs are pretty much junk. Fair from having the cash to replace them. Plan on going with a complete new lift kit in the months to come. Anyone agree that an aal would be the best way to go about fixing this short term?

Last but not least just one bushing thats no good. I plan on replacing a good majority of these as this vehicle sat for the better part of 8 months.

How to's on most vehicle work would be awesome, as well as ideas on how to go about certain things. I still have yet to learn how to weld. That will come in time and I've got basic tools to get the job done. This is my project for the year and I hope by fall she'll have improved 10 fold.

Any new updates?

Nothing super serious. Did plugs and wires. Gearing up for this weekend. Doin all new u-joints and ball joints this weekend. Supposed to hit 50 here in NH.
My sway bar and tie rod ends should be in on Friday along with new O2 sensors. That'll be my chore for the weekend. We'll see how it goes. Never done them before.

Alright si its been awhile since I've been here do to lack of funds. Still late off for the winter. Only downside to doing construction.
In any news I've acquired a couple new problems.
1. I now have a coolant leak and am at odds with where its coming from. Most of the mess its creating is on top of the fan and by my a/c compressor. But I just can't pin point the leak. Its a 9 month old single core plastic tank radiator I replaced. Went through half a tank of coolant in maybe a week and a half. Any ideas on where it may be? I dont have any overheating issues it just runs around 220 instead of 210.

2. Second is my oil pressure is running funky since I changed the oil. Nothing serious it just runs at around 40-50lbs when I'm giving it throttle and then will drop to around 20-30lbs while I'm stopped. Its not my first rodeo changing oil so could it be something minute at play here. I've noticed looking in the posts it could be the sender? Im not sure as to what that is being new to all this but an easy way to check it out and diagnose the problem would be grand. Until then I'll baby her until I can get back to work and possibly just replace the whole shebang.

What year is your jeep?
And the sender is super easy to replace. It's right above your oil filter. (coulda bumped it changing oil or it's just shot) It's best replaced with OEM part usually around $40 at stealership.
Sometimes fresh oil makes the guage read weird for a bit also.

Oh right on! That basically hits the nail on the head then! Its a 99'.
Anyone know where I can find the wiring schematic for the rear wiper wires?
It seems I've burned a couple wires out. Looks pretty hellish and I've never done any sort of wiring.

And is this any help? From my Haynes manual. If it will how do I read this?

Alright guys so I've decided to take care of probably my biggest problem at the moment.
This is my shackle..
Attachment 325704

This is my drivers side after my morning of gutting my interior.

Whats my best way of settling this. My girlfriends father can get a welder and weld it but what thickness should we go with. The shackle as you can see is bolted right to a good amount of rot. I just want something structurally sound. And should I rubberize the inside and delete the carpet?
