Long story short, I just bought an xj on thursday to be a daily driver. I have an audi a6 project car that I've taken off DD duty and am now building and shooting for 450awhp. Anyways

Sold my audi allroad and bought this xj within 4 hours of each other. Got this 2000 for $2300. 4.5" lift, practically brand new 32's. A/C had been discharged, hood and grill have some weird paint/texture that won't come off. airbag light and CEL are on. Had no stereo, no front speakers, and both drivers actuators were bad. I install car stereo equipment for a living so did the easy stuff first. $146 later, both actuators are fixed, new front speakers, new radio and got the thing cleaned up.

Today I'll be tackling the a/c and maybe the air bag light. After doing some research looks like I need to either replace or repair the clock spring as the air bag light is on, and the horn/cruise buttons don't work. Hitting up a pick n' pull to hopefully find a door panel, clock spring, rear bumper and side flares.

Anyways, pics for now -

Here's the codes that are preventing me from registering it in my name, seems like one is the NSS, especially considering my lack of reverse lights.

Oh, also ordered these last night -

I have some projectors laying around from some a6 headlights so I'll be attempting to retrofit those in.

That's it for now. First priorities are cleaning the thing up and taking care of maintenance, fixes, then we'll see where I go from there.

Well yesterday was productive to say the least.

Hit up a local pick and pull and snagged a new ambient temp sensor, passenger door panel (mine has a big rip in it), pass lock rod, clock spring and a pair of front fenders the right color. While on the way back, grabbed stuff to recharge the ac system as well as stuff for an oil change.

Charged the a/c with one can but the a/c clutch wouldn't kick in. Check wiring and there was no power to the compressor. Checked main under hood fuse and it was good, checked relay and it wasn't clicking over. Swapped in the abs relay and still no clicking. Interesting. Checked the underdash fuses and found a couple missing. #13 and #10.

#10 - Transmission range sensor, duty cycle evap/purge solenoid, radiator fan relay, a/c clutch relay, o2 sensor up/downstream relays, back up lamp switch

#16 - right headlight

Oh, you mean all of the things that I had codes for as well as my non working a/c, backup lights, and right high beam? AWESOME. Fixed so much **** with two fuses.

Also replaced the clockspring, and it fixed all of my steering wheel issues. No more airbag light, cruise now works as does the horn. All in all a productive day. Also figured out that the **** on the hood will come off with a lot of elbow grease and laquer thinner. That. will. take. time.

Pics -

Plans for today include tracking down rear flares and a couple misc interior pieces. Also might start working on the stereo and alarm stuff.

Nice rig! I'm a sucker for late models! I'd say you scored on that deal, having the lift and everything....

I agree. Po spent $900 on tires, $400 on lift and $350 on the bumper so I cant complain.

I don't like early models personally.

Thanks man.

Got my hid retrofit mostly done. Need to seal up the headlights better and clean up the wiring, but I'm only in the whole project about $40 so I'm not too concerned.

People in front of me are probably fairly surprised when they see it's a cherokee behind them. Ha ha

Next up will be tackling some leaks, and plastidipping the jeep camo tan like the grill. Will likely be a couple weeks before that happens as I'm going to vegas next week.

You must have gotten lost in vegas lol!
