Default New guy, 88 XJ Low Budget Build

Hi everyone. I am new to the Cherokee forum. My buddy and I recently bought a 1988 2 door Cherokee 4x4 for $275. It runs and drives great and has the 4.0L. We are trying to build a very capable, low budget Jeep that can be used to have fun but also save us money. So far, we have stripped the interior of nothing but front seats and a dash, added 2 inch rear shackles and 2 inch coil spring spacers, cut the front fenders to make room for bigger tires, built a custom diamond plate front bumper, added inch 1/2 wheel spacers front and rear, and took off the front sway bar. Will add pictures soon once I get the time to take pictures.

Hey guys. I need to post more pics of the XJ but have been busy fixing my tranny lines that were crushed my my upper control arm. Will get more pics posted this weekend when we get our coil spring spacers and hopefully some tires mounted. If anybody has any tires in the KC area for sale, send me a pm.

It's a bit wider than we had planned but it's all made by hand and it's very strong. This isn't really about looks anyway.

Took some pics of the XJ today. Got my CF stickes in the mail! It has Cragers on it right now. Waiting to find some tires and get wheels switched out. Starting on a rear bumper this weekend.New guy, 88 XJ Low Budget Build-111.jpg

Finally got the coil spring spacers on and new lower control arms. The spacers seemed to take forever. It seemed like nothing was working rightBut we finally got them settled. They turned out real good. Gonna post pics soon.

Here is pics of the new spacers and control arms. there is also pictures of what happened after our weekend project had been completed. We slid into a tree on a hill and while backing up managed to pull the grill from the clip. Ohwell I guess. This is what we bought it for anyhow.
