Thank you good sir, I'm excited. More excited to get to work pulling the passenger side apart...but still having it "safe" to drive is priority #1

You and me both, later this month into next month real progress will be made. Right now it's just the leafs and any other small stuff I can do with no garage and little time

Put this above in the intro post but more info here.

**Update - Due to the title situation on this thing it looks like parts is all she's good for to me. Out of state lost title and FL doesn't honor bill of sale in lieu of one even on something this old**

I bought this thing not really caring about the title because to me it was just parts, however with all the talk of it being a "fixer" I was interested in giving it a try. I contacted the PO (who btw I verified were the last registered owners) about getting a title and they're just not interested in going through that process at this point, and in the end that's ok with me, back to the original plan of stripping this one for all it's valuable XJ goodness and moving onto hopefully another 4x4 XJ later that has a blown motor or something (maybe I can luck out and find one with an NP231 so I don't have to buy one!)

Let the swapping of leafs begin...I made so little progress today that I'll just let you all come up with an assumption on your own. Rusty as ****!!

That looks pretty damn good for being from NY and seeing salt. You can probably come across a nice one down there that may even be 2wd instead of 4wd, and you will have everything you need to convert it over and have a solid rig.

The pictures are quite deceiving, I will admit there have been, and are currently, more rusty XJs. However underneath the cleanish body every single exposed hard metal surface is scaled in a thick coating of rust.

Your thoughts on swapping for a cleaner rig are right up my alley, that has been the plan from the beginning.

Mixed up a batch of Acetone and ATF, sprayed the springs and such this morning. I'll check tomorrow for any progress, slow and steady right?

Still spraying...lol

Good news is the new place is coming together much faster than expected so we could be in a garage sooner than later!

Still spraying...every other day it seems...no luck.

At this point I might have to cut these bastards out, I still need to try direct heat. Rusty bastard...

Got moved into our new place over the weekend (last three weeks of prep to get moved out of one house and into another to then go back and clean the other house all in two days, still unpacking obviously...lol).

The XJ has reached it's final resting place.

As it seems to always go other projects take hold and this one sits. Right now the XJ is doing it's best to be a storage rack for lumber while I build out the wall above our fireplace to mount our TV.

Slow moving right now across the board as we unpack and such making more room in the garage for things that need stored which in turn gives me more room to work on the Jeep.

Thanks, not planning on building a show stopper, just something without any sharp edges that cut me or the kids crawling around it.
