Default New 99 xj (vegas)

Well my name is Robert and i just joined the site. I am 21 and living in this AMAZING town of Las Vegas, NV; its hard to find good people to go wheeling with that arent drunk/dumb/stuck up / etc... so i only spend my real time building up jeeps and havent seen much trail time.

Ill start with showing day one of my 99 XJ. I spent months of searching and after 20+ XJs in town for sale i finally found a 99 XJ with 61K miles for roughly 7K with a 1 year warranty. Sticker said 9K at carmax...

Within the "month" i had to get my new jeep registered, i had done a few modifications...

As the first picture shows i installed a 3 inch Rustys lift with all new springs and daystar pucks up front. 31" MTRs on RockCrawler Steels. The second picture is at a local park; parked with AVS headlight covers, a custom built roof rack (conduit from home depot and a few welds !!) with fog lights galore, and fitted lastly with a full size spare and a jerry can (mounted in a custom 5 minute aluminum container made at work)
The last picture is 3 days before my registration was due. With ALOT of free time at the job i custom made these decals from small stickers. Each is made from 3M vinyl with gold to match.

With all that i have stumbled on AMAZING deals and have added quite a bit. Ill find a few more shots and keep you updated!

Hey Robert, Dan here.
That's a clean Jeep, but $7,000? Wow!

Prices a bit higher her ein good old vegas. Parents were happy with my 91 XJ i bought for 700 bucks, spent 75 for tune up and fix ups to get it running right. The jeep ran perfectly for 2 years on 800 bucks, and my parents made me find a new(er) car. couldnt pass up how clean it was

MORE pictures up soon !!! Actually here shortly

For all the fog lights i wanted to have a mount that did as little interior damage as possible. After a little bit of searchcing i stumbled upon Daystars TJ Vent Switches. The 97-01 XJ center piece is the same as 97-06 ( i believe ) TJs. New switches installed without a single wire shown anywhere in the cab.

The next day i found a Warn rear bumper on eBay brand new (was an old display) for $225 shipped. It was missing a couple bolts but within a week Warn gladly shipped a brand new hardware set with a few decals!!!!

Alittle cutting for the new brackets

Drivers side bracket sits 12 inches into the subframe and the passangers bracket sits 16 or so inches in the same.

Trim was cut to fit nice

The weekend after i ran into an ARB air locker on craigslist from a buddy in an 8.25 axle (same as mine) with EVERYTHING (compressor/wiring/switches/air hose/installed); which led to the next weekend axle swap. Easy swap within hours i had a locker installed for 800 total.

As for the locker switches i will have the Compressor / rear locker switch mounted the same as the fog lights in the vents.

MORE to come!!!

They are auto vent shade smoke covers. The headlight ones are nice but are a pain to keep on. If you do decide to get them id suggest securing them better then what they offer. I lost one of the fronts wheeling. Search 4wd.com and have them shipped to 4wheel parts free if available locally, if not just order straight from the site or even pepboys i believe can special order them.

ok ill look for the tail lights on there. But the head lights, or at least the ones i have, are the universal square kinds so it shouldn't be hard finding some with the glass permanently tinted seeing that they are the most common headlights.

The headlight covers are pretty awesome in my opinion, i just didnt secure them as well as i should have, which in turn i will more than likely order another set here soon.

Its nice because it covers the front turn signal as well.

yea i dont like those old school orange turn signals, you should try and find a way to cover the ones on the side too. Idk if that would look good or not.

Quick update.

2WD

Easiest thing to spot out is the front axle. Also easily shown here:

So my little "warranty" from CarMax expired RIGHT after my transmission blew. What are the odds right?!
Well shortly there after I decided to take the extra car to the junkyard and do alittle pulling:

So with my two new little friends i am now sitting with this!

So now i am in the search for a stock front axle to match my 8.25 with an arb locker.
I figured with a blown 2wd trans why not upgrade it. Used 4wd trans with 2 year warranty on parts and labor for 400, tcase brand new at the junkyard (jeep wrecked) 75 bucks, sye kit all together 450. All in all pretty cheap opposed to a shop rebuilding the old.
Also on the list for new things to do, i found these tiny lights at a local store and thought they would be perfect for this:

More info comming up soon!

Hmm, I like that. I think I might have to do that.
