1993 Jeep Cherokee Country

I Bought her this January for $1500 with 88,974 original miles and working 4WD, that alone made me feel like I hit the lottery with snow on the way here in NY.It needs some work though...
Here is the progress I've made since started working on it last month:

Replaced Head Gasket
New Spark plugs,wires,distributor cap+rotor.
Fresh oil change,air filter,flushed radiator.

The headliner was shot, and falling down, it was also stinky. Picked up some new material for $25 and a couple cans of 3M spray adhesive.

I ripped up all the carpet after I left my window open and rained. The passenger side floor pan was rotted, so welded in a new floor pan and duplicolor bedlined the inside floor. Not too impressed with duplicolor bed liner... I didn't get very good adhesion. Also installed new seat brackets and seats from Corbeau. The original seats bolt were rotted to the frame, no problem for a cut off wheel. Painted the center console black.

Round #2

-Installed a Rubicon Express 3.5 lift with new leafs
(Got alot of help from brother^^ THANKS! )

-Sprayed some black paint(have to redo, but is an improvement)

-Going to Raptor Liner the bottom part, and need bigger wheels and tires.
I'm thinking about 31X10.5 on 15rims not sure if the 32's would be too big?

Didn't do much this weekend to the jeep, but I did spray down and scrub the transfer case with Engine Cleaner. Brought a smile to my face when my T-case went from black sludge to shiny silver.

-Ordered a Transfer Case Drop Kit.

what kind of engine cleaner and how much scrubbing? mine is in need of a wash as well and i havent decided on a cleaner yet but i think im going to go with purple power. im just worried itll harsh my rubbers

TK956 07-09-2012 10:13 AM

I used 1 whole can of "GUNK Engine cleaner original". I sprayed it on and waited 5 mins, scrubbed it a bit, and sprayed it off with the hose. I then sprayed it down and washed off again to get what ever was left. I dont think my T-case was ever cleaned. I really wish I had a before and after pic. Stuff really works!

Did those seats just bolt into place ?

TK956 07-09-2012 09:34 PM

The lift kit quality is awesome, stiffer than stock but hey its a jeep.
The seats bolted in for the most part, but I used new seat brackets from corbeau and had to drill a few new holes.

Ill give it a shot then thanks!

Thanks,

Well I just got my tires and wheels today. I went with ProComp Mud Terrain 31x10.5 on 15 rims. I got some wicked death wobble today on the way to pick up the new tires, I figure if I upgrade the steering damp it hopefully will solve the problem.

Did you get it aligned after the lift? do you have an adjustable TB, and the Steering stabilizer will not solve your issue, but till dampen it lol

check all of your tie rod ends, if any are loose or leaking replace them, thats what i had to do before my wobble went away.

Are you in of around Rochester? I think I saw an xj just like yours earlier this week in Henrietta.

TK956 07-14-2012 04:20 PM

Nope I didn't get a chance to get it aligned yet, everything is closed on the weekend now. I'm going to get it done on monday. After my last post I did so research on this forum about death wobble and realized that steering stabilizers dont fix DW. I installed a new steering stabilizer for the hell of it cause the old one looked shot. I then checked the front end out and it looks like the bushings are in need of replacement.

Im in westchester county NY, sorry wasn't me :tt2:
