My "New" Toy
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, this is my first Jeep!
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/attach...1&d=1346692628 Awesome, isn't he? He's a '91 Jeep Cherokee two door. He'll be my project for quite awhile. I'm 16, and I'm really excited to start my first build. First I'm going for a paint job. I can't stand that horrendous camouflage. Soon after the paint job, I'm going to work on little things. The windows need resealing, I'm going to tint the windows, fix the hatch. I'm just going to give him some really good attention, and then I'll start the bigger things. :gunsmilie: I'll do my very best to keep you all updated. By the way, any paint/rim suggestions? |
Do the window seals before the paint. Priorities
|
Keep the wheels!
|
As it appears, I'm new to vehicle building in general. Anything you guys could suggest would be really great. and I REALLY NEED color suggestions!!

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/attach...1&d=1346701398 Here's the other three sides. Sorry about how bad the pictures are. I live in the suburbs with a small driveway and no where to park to get good shots. :cursing: |
that paint job is terrible..Just horrendously ugly!! What type of budget are you on? You Could Bedline it. And have a Nice tough paint job. It'll look fairly good also.

are those reverse lights used in place of the ones inside the tail light housings?
keep the rims for a while depending on the backspacing. |

before you paint find the rust if there is and fix it before paint. that way you dont waste the one and have to repaint.
|
Remove the fender flares and the endcaps. The rear endcaps are notorious for rust. It may look like swiss cheese. I know mine does and its newer than yours. ALso get a game plan ready for it Like a list of what you going to do and what you want to do. (Lift, tires, etc)
|
So I've been sitting here thinking about my list.
1) Reseal windows. 2) It appears that the bottom, back lining of the drivers side is duct taped, concealing rust. I'll need to fix that. 3) Paint Job 4) Repair/clean interior 5) Buy high quality seat covers or just look for new seats 6) Lift kit(suggestions?) 7) Window tint Well, that's all i can think of right now. I'll need to go out there and really look him over. i'm really looking forward to this build, but as of right now progress will be slow. I pretty much have no connections, meaning that I don't have a place to do much work. I really hope you guys can support me, you're all i have really. |

I really like the look, though! Is there any way to prevent it?
****EDIT Also if you are looking into lifts. Google search Rustys offroad (Little More expensive then Rough Country) Rough Country (Cheapest out of them all) SkyJacker (Expensive but Quality) Old man Emu TeraFLex Rubicon Express Theres alot more. but those are what i can Name off my head But keep Your Rims They are good rims For sure. Youll save alot of money since you have those. About 200-250 Bones And for Seats Look into doing Grand cherokee seats if you want to get new ones. If you use the search Function On here YOull find them. Its fairly easy to do. Just not the back seats If i remember Correctly. Bolt on mostly. |

I wasn't saying remove them completely Just take them off and search for rust. And yes you Patch the rust spots up. and Then you Can have a mutiple ways of doing it. If you are planning to keep the end caps on forever. Just Undercoat them with undercoating. its pretty much like tar. Then reinstall caps and you wont see it. Or if you Want to take them off eventually. Search online for some rust preventative paint. Also a cheaper way to get a paint job is to use tractor paint. Its tougher and a hell of alot cheaper than automotive paint. and it goes on like a nice enamely black
