my little mud toy

This last summer i bought a 91 jeep xj with no drivetrain doors windows and a very poorly done suspension lift. The jeep was originaly built by a friend of mine 2 years ago. we had originaly cut the doors off and trimed the fenders and made a snorkle with some pvc pipe. with some budget lift we made it clear an old set of bfg km1 35's. that was all great until the computer got a little wet. he added custom leafsprings to the front and tryed to fit a 400 big block but gave up on his project.

about 3 months after he sold it i found it at a local jeep restoration shop. they had some how bought it on accident. i made an offer of $100 and i had a jeep.

i took the jeep to my sisters boyfriends shop and started striping it. i removed the dash carpet head liner seats and started cutting out rust holes. i have droped the gas tank and removed everything from the engine bay.

i have now started fabricating the suspension. i got some 1/2ton leaf springs for the back to match the front. http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4009173_n.jpghttp://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...39074781_n.jpghttp://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...41777040_n.jpg

:surrender:yes i know my computer is retarded/im not good at it, and the pics posted wierd but if u scroll to the side there are more

Mr.goodtime 01-12-2012 07:37 PM

wow today i realized how tall the jeep is gonna be and its still on jack stands, i finished building the shackles and one front leaf hanger, i havnt decided if i want blocks or not, i guess it depends how the 40's clear, so excited, hopefully back on its own tires by tuesday, then i got to pull apart the front and fix that mess. doing this project with high school, duel enrolment at a colledge and work is making this project really slow. hopefully i will have the moter in and everything tuned up by march

Mr.goodtime 01-12-2012 07:39 PM

please give some opinion, i know its not a rock crawler, its not my fault i live in the flat land, all i got is some gumbo mud

Swamp Donkey 01-13-2012 09:14 PM

Looks as if you and xjman941 are kin folk....

Kuro89 01-13-2012 09:45 PM

if you need more lift to clear 40's just use a longer shackle

Mr.goodtime 01-16-2012 08:04 PM

well today i got the 40's on the jeep for a test fit of the new leaf springs and i got all the clearence i need, i stood up on the jeep and jumped on it as hard as i could and couldnt touch a tire :) i actualy need to cut all the bull **** out of the front from the previous owner and lower it about two inches so i can see, i will have pics asap but i left my camra at home today, mean while the project is getting a slight delay cause my sis got in an accident with her 97 ranger, someone decided to pull a u turn accross three lanes of traffic and didnt see the little ranger, while were tearing stuff apart we deciede to chase a misfire on cylender three that has been there for awhile, we had already done spark plugs and coil packs wich wasnt fun due to the 2 plugs a cylender, so we tore apart the head to find some cracks in it soo another trip to u pull it instead of workin on the jeep :(
