Default My Jeep Build.

Rewriting my jeep build.

I bought my jeep just before I left for JRTC with a blown input seal. Pulled the trans and it was fried. Picked up a new one with 100K and got it installed. Here is a full list of cash input so far. She also came with a 2.5in lift, trans cooler, electric fan, and a poor excuse for ahead unit install. Wiring also looks like it was done by my 6yr old son.

1988 Cherokee $800
New trans $350
Trans Install $250
Fluid/Gaskets $100
Tires $120
Tire Install $30
Steering Stab $30
Ignition Cyl $10
Rear main $35 seal and oil pan gasket.
Lug studs and$15 and nuts

Total: 1,740

Doors are shot and will probably be turned into half doors and just buy new
Drag link is shot
Alignment needs done
No power steering, fluid all leaked out
Vacuum lines are cracked or not even hooked up
Drums in rear are metal on metal

I just got back from JRTC (army training) so i figured I'd rewrite my build.

Lots of random crap that needed to be taken care of.

33x10.5R15 all dry rotted and cracked.

No tread left at all.

Found some change on the floor. lol

Complete fluid exchange.

Plenty of things needing tended to in here. Vacuum lines are shot and some aren't even hooked up.

Intererior will be fixed with some seat covers.

Same with the back seats.

Just some minor clean up.

Input seal is definitely blown.

Trans finally came out.

Rear axle. Chrysler 8.25 I believe.

Front axle. Not sure if this is and AMC model 35 or Dana 30 still.

fluid is crap.

Teeth all look good.

New steering stabilizer picked up due to mine being blown out.

A chart thats helped me out quite a bit.

4 mismatched tires for $120 and then $30 to put them on at the Auto skills center on post.

Front end for right now.

The way shes sitting now.

Future Plans in order of precedence:
oil pan gasket and rear main seal
drag link
power steering issue
alignment
brakes (not driving it at the moment)
vacuum lines
floor pans are holey
steering box brace
new doors/half doors
cut and fold fenders/rear quarter delete
paint (red)
frame tie ins
front prerunner bumper
frame stifiners
rear tire carrier
5.5in lift??????

Lots of other misc things need fixed but hopefully you'll tag along for it.

Front is definitely a Dana 30, only front axle that came in Cherokees. The rear is a Chrysler 8.25, could be 27 or 29 spline. I don't believe they were an option in 88 so someone swapped it in, and hopefully they swapped a 29 spline. Also, when you do the brakes I suggest a rear disc brake conversion, not hard and so much better in the long run.

Also curious why the new build thread instead of posting in the old one?

Just a bit of an update so here we go. So I did the oil pan gasket and rear main seal and that was a a lot of fun, not. I also picked up this beauty at an auto auction on post for $600. Swapping all the interior out Doors are all mechanical so they'll be switching I picked up a new vacuum harness and drum brake kit so I'll be doing that this weekend. After that a power steering pump to and floor pans to fix and an alignment. Thanks for looking.

Ps new interior is the pics of the seats.
