My First XJ/Vehicle
I am 17 years old and I bought my first vehicle today. It is a 1991 jeep xj. I bought it from my dads friend for $1000.
It does need a little work such as new shocks ( it is missing one but might as well replace all), it needs new control arms, and it need one of the hinges on the driver side front door re-welded.
The good: IT IS A XJ. It already has a 3in. lift and is on 31x10.50x15 AT tires ( will be replaced with MT). It has the 4.0 HO I6 and an exhaust of some sort not sure if it a flowmaster or what.
THIS WILL BE A SLOW BUILD!

Take off all the moldings and cut and fold the fenders. Thats what makes the pre 97 look good. Plasti dip the front chrome too. Doing all that stuff would be like $15 and make it look 40000x better.

ordering new control arms and bar pin eliminators soon, possibly tonight.
I am going with stock control arms for now because i don't have a lot of money due to the lack of a job.(will upgrade later on)
Might also be ordering the Rusty"s steering box brace as well.

It has been a while since I have updated so I got my shocks in, I got my door welded back on and I got a spot on the frame welded. I pulled the carpet out and found a small hole under the back seats above the exhaust and I put down some rust stuff through the whole inside of the jeep so the rust will not spread further. I rattle canned the inside black instead of putting carpet in. I also painted the control arms.
I am going to put the control arms in this weekend and fix the whole if the weather holds up which is why I didn't finish last weekend and then I can drive it.
It will not let me put up pics so i will when it alows

Could you post a pic of how you welded your hinge? I've been trying to figure out how to do mine because the welds broke and its only being held on by a tab inside the body was thinking I should lift the door and have it held up then grind the paint off and weld it that how you did yours?

Good looking rig for the price, def cut the front fenders, and fold the rear, and dont waste money on stock control arms, save up and get the adjustable arms and a lift kit....you said it'd be a slow build, so you might as well save your money and go with the good stuff once rather than replacing stuff twice down the line....
used parts dont sell for very high....especially stock... just my 2 cents
Good luck and welcome to the obsession
