Check the cable too. You have throttle/kickdown/cruise cables running across the valve cover. The cruise control diaphragm is to the left If your looking straight at the motor. I'll take pics of mine so you'll know what to check.

I can see all of that, and followed the vacuum line all the way to the intake manifold, but the line to the CC unit T's off of a vacuum line that runs towards the front of the jeep. Where does it end at? I don't see any leaks from the intake manifold to the CC unit.

Ok good, that line T's off to a vacuum ball which is tucked into the front bumper.

If you take your right bumper cap off you'll be able to reach in there and make sure the lines still on.

I could actually reach from underneath... feels like it is still hooked up. Any reason no to just take it of and run the line just to the CC unit?

It uses the vacuum ball to store built vacuum when you turn the jeep off. If you plugged it you would hear all the air rush into it. I wouldn't delete it I believe it's there for a reason. I just relocated mine bc I trimmed my bumper up

Well I too will be relocating it eventually since I will be using a different front bumper all together. Anything else I should check?

Well I ordered my lift today... got it from Zone Offroad. 3" lift with new leafs in the back since mine were shot. Only lift I could find under $500 shipped. It's not a $2k lift, but lets face it, I'm not going to be an off road or rock climbing champion so it's a good start.

Also got the wheels to my buddy to media blast.... found out that 4 of them are 15x7, and the 5th wheel is 15x8... little pissed but whatever. If I want to go bigger I will when the tires wear out.

Awesome! I haven't heard anything bad about that kit. Nice and simple that's for sure!

Thanks, I think I learned more about 4x4 suspension stuff in the past two weeks than I have about sports car suspensions in the last 14 years, ha ha.

You will learn all you need to know (and more) just by reading through the threads here on the forum. Tons of good info just waiting to be used.

Well here is the lift and a nice piece of 1/8" thick 4'x8' sheet of diamond plate sitting in my garage... lets see what I can do with that in the next couple weeks.

Well, some pretty good progress today. I got the front dif service done, and the dif cover painted and put back on, just needs filled tomorrow. I got the rear drum brakes out, new rear axle seals, and the new disk brake hubs put on, just need to get the brake lines hooked up and the proportional valve put in.

Tomorrow I will get the wind deflector for the rack cut out of my huge piece of diamond plate, paint up the rear dif cover and put it back on w/new fluid, get the old suspension out (have been soaking bolts in pb-blaster), and start getting new suspension in or rear brakes bled. I was not anticipating getting everything done this weekend anyway so I am good with that.

Plus my buddy is not done media blasting my wheels yet, and I don't really want to put the old wheels/tires back on, so no hurry I guess.

Also talked to my my good friend a bit about a front locking hub conversion kit, since I'll be doing some road trips in this jeep, it will save on drive line wear and gas. The $1100 for a kit does not fit into my budget right now, but good ideas for later

Ok... so some pictures of how she sits tonight...

Both diffs serviced and covers painted....

Front lift...

And the rear lift with the rear disc brakes...

Tomorrow we will get the brakes bled, and I am trying to get the emergency cables connected with using the stock XJ cables, so will work on that. Also hopefully going to get some of this diamond plate cut up. Any ideas on what else I can use it for?

Also have not done the oil pan gasket, or rear main seal yet. At this point I want to get the wheels back, and painted, and the jeep rolling. I can do that stuff after it is moving again.
