More of a progression than a build

First time poster long time lurker but got my XJ in January for dirt cheap, looked like this:

No rear brakes, mix matched tires and the worst death wobble I ever imagined. First week I rebuilt brakes and got a set of matching 30's from a friend, they fixed the DW and it looked like this:

Then I had a loud popping sound when using 4wd, thought it was bad u-joints so replaced the ones in the axle and checked the DS. Still no joy, still had the popping. Drained the TC and was able to see the chain was very lax, like this:

so put a new one on and all was good, no popping and looked like this:

Now time to lift, only doing 3" with spacer and bastard pack. Front was easy, back wasn't to bad just really could use some extra hands when aligning the axle back up.

This might be helpful for others doing a bastard pack lift. First I used just main xj leaf and the 3 s-10 leafs, this was around 5.5" of lift, look like this;

Today I pulled the leafs again and used main xj, main s-10, 2nd s-10 and last 2 is xj, this gave me about 4.5" of lift, still more than I want, looks like this:

So tomorrow I am going to do it again but just using the s-10 main like an AAL and using the rest all stock xj leaves. If it isn't enough I will use a shackle or a block.

Looks good. You should bring it to jeep beach in Daytona, 2 weeks.

Looking good so far man. As for the extra 1.5", do you ever carry or tow with your rig? If so I'd leave that extra to compensate for the load. If not, try your next idea. And Welcome to the forum to both of you.

Thanks guys, taking the wife camping in Osceola this coming weekend but will be working solid for next 2 weeks after, if you get to go hope you post up some pics johnny. Where are you located in Florida? I am about 2-3 hours from Daytona.

Outlaw, only time it will be loaded down is camping. If I had more energy left today I would have stacked some blocks in back to see how much it took to get it down to 3", lol, it crossed my mind but second time in 2 days yanking the springs out, tomorrow will be number day 3.

Well, good luck. I'm down here in Lantana (Palm Beach Co).

Ah.... the real Florida, here is more south Georgia than Florida. I like it but deffinately not the Florida everyone thinks about, lol.

Well, finally got it down to 3" in the rear, just used the main s-10 spring with eyes removed like an AAL.
Hereit is with the old 30" tires after I finished yesterday:

Good looking start here. That Jeep looks just like my old country with the pinstripes and moldings.

I like the ravines on it

Thanks guys! Homestead is nice, haven't been down there in the Miami area in a very long time.
