I do have one question about the pics above. The one with a bunch of stuck Wranglers. It looked like they dug themselves some good ruts, and were stuck in them. Those guys do realize they could have hooked a winch to another wrangler and probably gotten two unstuck at a time, right? lol.
Other than that, Everything is still looking good. Nice Job.

As for the wranglers.... They did use their winches. In the process they just got stuck worse haha what they had to do was tie the back of one of the wranglers to a fence post with a tow strap, and then they used the winch to pull one wrangler out at a time.... They guy had a 10,000lb warn winch and it kept tripping the breaker! Yeah they were stuck pretty bad. Did the Cherokee get stuck? Of course not haha

Wow, thanks for sharing!
Hey man,
I'm the new owner of a white 1990 2-door (nearly like yourself) and it so happens that I too bought it for 1600€! (yes I live in France!) It's my first car too and I plan on working hard on it to improve it from its current condition... Lift, tires, CB, and other tweaks and mods to get it back in shape!
I just wanted to say that it was great to see someone build their XJ like I hope to do so myself! It's incredible the amount of inspiration you can get from others! Like that windshield seal! I'll have to get that done also! ;-)
Oh and BTW... for the 5 inch lift, did you install a Slip Yoke Eliminator and new driveshafts? I plan on lifting mine 3.5 inches and online they recommend installing those new parts too... What did you do?
Anyway, great thread, great pics, great Cherokee and great inspiration! Thanks!

It's crazy the amount of help and inspiration I have got from users on this forum. Without the many questions answered, threads read, and pictures posted by other members. my jeep definitely wouldn't be what it is today. I'm glad I could pass on some inspiration through this build thread!
As far as the driveshaft is concerned, i have heard getting a SYE on lifts above 4.5 is recommend, but honestly on these older Cherokees a lot of people get by without one. I don't have a SYE on my jeep. I don't have any driveline vibes what so ever. With only a 3.5 inch lift I'm sure you will be just fine without one.
P.S. I highly recommend the windshield seal! Its money well spent.
P.P.S haha.... good luck with your Cherokee! I hope to see a build thread one of these days

Today was simply a bad day. So after work I found a dirt road and just followed it. It didn't take long for my frown to turn in to a smile.... Jeep = best drug ever. I love this thing.

UPGRADE! Operation ditch Dana 35!
Usually I have my jeep in the garage to fix what is broken, but today I have my jeep in the garage for upgrades to help keep it from getting broken haha.
I don't do any extreme rock crawling in my jeep. As much as I hate to say this, it's kinda a mall crawler haha. However when I do get the chance to go jeeping I wanted the piece of mind of having a stronger axle that can take a bit more abuse. The 29 spline 8.25 was the obvious solution. Direct bolt in, stronger, and easy to find. So out with the old, and in with the not so old haha. And of course it wouldn't be my style to put something new in without painting it.
I'll have to wait until Monday to get some new U bolts so I can bolt the axle under my jeep. So until then.... I'm jeepless. :/

Dude, nice job cleaning and painting the axle. Looks good. I hope the paint stays on for a while... Looking good, and keep the thread alive by doing cool stuf like the axle swap. gives the rest of us ideas and makes it one of those "threads to read."

Great state you live in as well! Been through a couple of times, on two wheels though, and the landscape/scenery is gorgeous!

Yeah Utah is really quite somethin'. I'm
Fortunate to call it home. I just wish I had the time and Mulah to take the jeep and see some of the beautiful places across the state. Maybe i would have spare money if I didn't have the jeep... Haha oh well i'm over it.
