So this is my first post of my build. A little background- my grandpa gave me this 88 xj. It has the crappy 5 speed in it so I bought another 88 donor with an auto plus roof rack, light bar, custom bumper, bushwackers,3"skyjacker lift, dvd... lots of goodies to transfer. I started about a week ago. I switched out the seats for gray leather, I swapped the fender flares, tires, roof rack and light bar. right now i have the doors off to swap them out also. I have coming in mail new 4:56 gears plus master install kit, aussie lockers front and back, new carriers, and an 8.8 conversion kit. I have an 8.8 sitting outside ready to be fabricated. HERE WE GO! :devil2:

So next on my list is getting a few friends over to swap the tranny and the lift. Then its off to the shop for gearing and locker install

Why do you think the AX-15 is crappy? I like it better then the AW4.
|
I wish I had the AX-15. But thats not what I have- I have the BA 10.. it was made by peugeot and very much a piece of garbage. If I had the ax-15 i wouldnt change it. And if it was a simple swp I would swap it too- but it is actually a lot of work- conversion kits etc..
|
and then your going to Mexico?
|
Yeah thats my plan :) not permanently or anything- just to explore around a bit.. I have friends down by acapulco and that area to see and my wife's family has a house in san felipe (in the baja) where we can stay.. hopefully by november we can just pack up and head out for a month or more!!

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Today my front carrier came in the mail! Woo hoo :) now I'm waitin on gears and lockers and rear carrier.. I feel like a little kid .. ha ha

the switch to an ax-15 is not hard. no adapters needed, it should just bolt in. you do have to change the input gear on the transfer case but that's easy. i did the swap on mine in just a few hours.
