marshmallow's beginings 99 xj, lots of pics

Hey guys i cant believe i havent made a build thread, i have done a good bit to the jeep but just havnet really cared to tell. so here goes.

first off put a lift on, 2" RE BB, and painted black rims
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...G_0070_2-1.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...IMG_0042_2.jpg

then a year later put a 3" lift on, no pics of this sorry, this is how it sits with it on

trimmed the air dam thing on the front bumper
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...0516101929.jpg

built a roof rack out of pvc, actually held up very well and here are the lights i put on top and what they can do, not too bad at all, i like them
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...0603101944.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P7050074.jpg

my air conditioning hasnt worked in a while so i decided to take the doors off and make some tube doors.
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P8140010.jpg

i upgraded to a bigger grinder blade and its awesome
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P8140013.jpg thats my welder

http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P7070089.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P7070080.jpg

does this look like a soft door?
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P7090104.jpg

i didnt want to get a ticket so i put some mirrors on, pretty simple
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P8140003.jpg

jonjon99xj 10-04-2010 09:16 PM

then i felt like people in the rear should have the same no door feeling
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...P8140022-2.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/P8140020.jpg

so this is what happened this weekend, i started a bumper build, tried to, its harder than in looks, the front swoops down which i didnt like so i cut it off,
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020045.jpg
then i reinforced it which you have to do people!!!!
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020046.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020048.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020050.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020051.jpg

i cut these brackets, i felt like they did nothing
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020059.jpg

start of brackets, i couldnt get 1/4 inch so i decided to get 3/16 and double it up for a beef front bumper
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020061.jpg
torch was great to use for plug welds
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA020068.jpg

my torch started messing up so i had to use my trusty angle grinder then it started to catch fire, she was so great to me RIP
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA030071.jpg

so i went out to buy an awesome new one, i recommend this one to anyone
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA030072.jpg

if you can tell we put the horns up into the wheel wells more,
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA030074.jpg

drilling some mount holes
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA030075.jpg

http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA030076.jpg

left side mounted, yes only three holes for now, when i get back to it i will drill more and when i fix my torch
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA030080.jpg
that blue piece on the left is what im building the bumper out of, 2x4 .25 thinckenss, so i can hit you with it and not dent plus i got a 7foot piece for 12 bucks!

thats how it sits, more updates will be done in a few weekends, im in college and its a slow build process, everything is bought with my own money, the jeep, every tool i have, every piece of metal i bought so you cant tell me anything less. ive been making rock guards and roof racks to afford this expensive hobby, it also helps me relax and just calms me down, i love it and wouldnt change it for anything. enjoy, comments and questions or concerns are always greatly appreciated! thanks

Looks good man. You've done a lot of work. I see you know how to weld. A trade that will never die! Good work man!

well the clear vinyl on the door has killed the sewing machine i was using, so im still working on them, kinda sucks, but once finished i think they would be cool

jonjon99xj 10-13-2010 02:18 PM

got some 100w replacement bulbs for my baja lights, i never knew they made them, i put them in pics will be up soon. Now i cant decide whether to upgrade the other baja lights or just use my hellas??? help? what ya think?

jonjon99xj 10-17-2010 09:33 PM

finsihed the front bumper this weekend and wired those bajas with a relay but still blowing fuses. also i added probably two inchs of lift to my rear, its higher than the front now. also noticed while driving back to school my steering is messed up, so i need to go to the junk yard to get a GC one

jonjon99xj 10-18-2010 08:17 AM

here are pics from the weekend, first is how to change out your bulbs on lights, pretty much same process for everylight

http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA130032.jpg

take out the bulb

http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/PA130033.jpg
