Marine Corps XJ Build
Hey guys
Picked up my 2000 cherokee in march. Had a little over 100,000 miles and I got it for a steal. Unfortunately I later realized that that has a way of coming back to me. But thats for later.
Anyway I got it with some bfg all terrains 29s sitting on some 16 inch wheels. The tires were almost brand new, even had the little nub things on them. Also came with a pioneer stereo which has some pretty good sound. Since then I put on some cheap Blazer lights which ended up being a nightmare to wire in.
So a couple weeks ago I was driving home when the temp spiked. I stopped, let it cool a bit and opened the radiator cap. Black gunk erupted from it, getting everywhere including me in my dress pants. So i brought it down to the mechanic and it turns out I needed a new engine....dont wanna talk about it. But I got it back last friday and celebrated by putting 600 miles on it already. Mechanic said no offroading within the first thousand miles so i wanna knock that out quick!
Heres how she sits now:
So two days ago I tried to fix the power window problem that seems rampant with cherokees. I couldnt get the door panel off for some reason, anyone know how to do it? I ended up blasting some canned air thru it and now it works a little better.
Also today I redied the abs plastic with some stuff called forever black. Looks amazing, made it look 10x better. Ill get some good pictures when I find my camera
Ill get some more pics soon, kinda did this on the spur of the moment.
Also gettin a bumper and prerunner from XJPRO and some new leaf springs from Qaudratech.....and maybe some other goodies....

Semper Fi devil dog. Welcome to the build threads. Nice looking XJ. I picked up my 2000 sport about 2 weeks ago. What are your plans for it?

Looking good. I tried that Forever Black stuff on my Cj7's fender flares and the color faded back to gray after a few weeks. This time I'm going to try some Krylon Fushion spray paint. Good luck on the build.

Thought i said this before but I still havent done my time just yet. I ship to basic in August if you guys were wondering.
Anyway good to see such a warm welcome. Dont think i havent thought of camo paint as well. Id do either Jungle marpat or oldstyle woodland, the desert paint will just stick out on the trails to much.
Flowpro, my dad used it too on his wrongler and the color stuck for a couple months. Hopefully my second coat will help it stay longer.
So I ordered a Teraflex 1.5 shackle and spacer kit today, hopefully should be in ASAP and i can make my back end sit a little higher. I was gonna get the leafspring but for half the money i got a lift. Thats a win in my book. Ill be takin off the plastic bumper guards tomorrow and putting on a roof rack. Pics will be up
I also need a name, any ideas?

Just said hoorah, never said I liked you because you were gonna be a jar head!
Besides, your from North Attleboro, I gotta give you a little bit of hell!
(I grew up in Norton back in the day)
Seriously though, good of you, you're making a great decision, and the Jeep is gonna be baller.

Thats pretty wierd that you grew up right next door, whereabouts in Norton?
Anyway so yesterday I took off the plastic grill and the part that surrounds the headlight to paint it black. I set it to dry for about 4 hours and it still wasnt dry! So I ran out of time and couldnt put it back on without destroying the paint. Ill be putting that back on today, should look good. Also took off the plastic bumper gaurds of the frontsides which gave it a much meaner look. Ill throw some pics up when I get it all back together
Picture time!
Tough to see in this one but the sides are much blacker now then they look
In this one you can see the metal stone gaurd I put in behind the plastic grill. Idt my ac coulda taken much more
Also my dad thought of a name for her: BJ. After we paid for her she def sucked a load out of us!

I served in the Corps from 2000-2008. Good luck in boot camp. Just move with intensity and speed, remember to speak in the third person And you Will be okay. Its mostly mental. The day you March across that grinder for graduation, it will be the biggest feeling of accomplishment. Remember, once a Marine always a Marine. We are the Few and the proud. Semper Fidelis!
