Recently have been having issues with my internet company but here is what I have been up to. I was having a loud whirring on the driver front at 25 mph and higher so I replaced the wheel bearing in the hub. It was definitely shot. So I replaced generic no name insert dirty word *&#^ Bearing with this Timken, god I love quality!
I pulled the pads and calipers off and started on the rotor. I had to get the old bearing out. Dang that thing was stuck in there like a pita. I whacked it out just to find out that Advance auto sold me the wrong one. Yeah I have cast iron and the guy was like you have composite. WRONG. So I took it back and then went to autozone for Timken bearings. I always do that lol. Anyway got to autozone and got the bearing and got it installed no problem. Corrected some of the noise but not all. Back to square 1!

Well it really wasn't my choice at all, but my main problem with the color is that MUD doesn't show well lol. Other than that I love my Jeep and am Addicted like crazy

Winter upgrades
Update that has been long time coming.
Rusty's Steering box brace
Rusty's trac-bar bracket and double sheer tracbar
Chryco 8.25 27 spline so upgrade to 29 spline
Rear disc conversion
IRO hack and tap SYE
additional 2 inch lift for total of 6.5
The trac-bar bracket went on fairly easy. Didn't take but just a few hours to remove the old and mount up the new. It did need to be shaved about an 1/8th of an inch in one of the holes. The track bar bracket helped because my driver coil was rubbing slightly on the old bracket so the new bracket doesn't rub at all.
The Rusty's steering box brace was a natural upgrade to help with the added stress of 12.5 inch wide tires. It was a simple install that took only about 2 hours. I have a front hitch and that took a while to remove because I broke a bolt. Otherwise it was a simple install. I will try to get more pictures up soon to show all the other upgrades and some of the steps involved.
I was unlucky when I got this jeep only in that it came with a Dana Turdy5. I found a 8.25 but it is a 27 spline, so it has been sitting as I have been looking for 29 spline shafts and spiders. Found a single shaft and carrier for cheap and looking for another.
It was a little rusty and needed new axle bearings and seals
I did end up sanding off the rust and painting it.
But overall not bad and didn't pay hardly anything for it
Almost got all of it ready and am converting the brakes to disc for more stopping power and convenience. I referenced the write up found here:
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/z...-brake-920103/
The Disc brake conversion is a simple one, I used a grinding stone to bore out the center of the backing plate to accommodate the 8.25 instead of the ZJ d35 that I pulled it off. I then had to drill out the mounting holes and buy slightly longer grade 8 backing plate bolts and nuts. I also cleaned and painted the backing plates up as well. I was able to get ZJ calipers and good rotors that could be turned. I did buy new pads, shoes and hardware for the kit.
Then I ordered IRO Hack and Tap and went to town on the rear output shaft and ordered a set of shims. But they were too wide so I had to trim them down.
It has been slow going due to my lack of extra time to tool around. I received my adjustable shackles from Andy at Ironman4x4. Let me just say that his stuff is insanely overbuilt. I love it and will be a repeat customer. I can tout it all day long but until you see this pic you won't understand how beefy the shackles really are! So in combination with these 0-3.5 inch shackles I will add spring spacers to the coils I have now until I can purchase new 6.5 inch springs.
I haven't had anytime to install any of this. I am also looking for a set of 33's and some D windows. I should be able to pick up the D windows this week and hopefully I can get some warm weather to install everything!
