When I bought this Jeep, it was intended to be a winter beater, but if I can I will put some work into it and keep it around for more then just that.
Anyway, what I want to do with the Jeep is mainly cosmetic. Want it too look nice but not excessive. I want to fix the rust on doors with steel or diamond plate and fix the rockers too. I plan on painting the grill and mirrors gloss black which should be happening soon. Also want to get clear corner lights. Here's what I am hoping it will look like: Attachment 355717 Hopefully I can find a brush guard for the front at a cheap price. Will keep this updated as progress progresses. |

Got the grille and surrounding trim painted tonight. Deciding what to do with the chrome bumpers now. Any ideas?

Went to the local junkyard today. Found two great things for my XJ: A brush guard for the front and even better...A factory cupholder  There was another one there, but it had been modified to have deeper cups. Now I just got to get some tools and go back to pull off the brush guard.

Needed a new tail pipe piece due to the old one having a gaping hole where the hanger was. After buying a replacement tail pipe, my friend sold me his Flowmaster 44 (2 months used) for $20. Got it all put together and the XJ sounds a lot better now.
Still trying to get the brush guard welded on. |

After playing around with photoshop, I have determined that this is the look I am going for. I will be painting it with a friend in the spring, and I am not going to try for perfection. Its a Jeep after all. Not pictured is the brush guard I am still waiting to put on. And for a radical idea, the headliner will be redone in plaid :shifty: Thoughts?

Ive never seen that kind of factory cup holder.. odd. Jeep looks good though.

I have an 00..the cup holders are between the shifter and the center console.
In my 88 the factory cup holders were above the e brake handle. |

Interesting look for an XJ, but it looks good
As far as the cup holders goes there is two designs that are on all of the aftermarket Jeep sites for pre 96 XJs, one is above the e-brake and the other goes in the tabs. |

With the cold winter months, I haven't got much done. However, here is what I did do.
Got aftermarket headlights in with the fake projector lens and LED halo. My best friend got them for me for Christmas. I wired up the Halos to a stock Transmission switch I found so the interior still looks factory. I then got the front end torn off and installed HID's. What a difference it makes. Attached is a comparison picture that shows factory light on top and HIDs on the bottom. I also installed 6 1/2in Kicker DS60 speakers in the front doors and rear tail gate. Paired with the 2 8in Rockford Fosgate subs I have in there as well, it sounds pretty good. However, I am going extreme and adding 4 more 6 1/2 Kicker speakers in the ceiling. I'll get more pictures up soon. |
It's been a while since I updated this thread. Here's the plaid headliner that I finally got done. It's been holding up pretty well for a year now.

Current project now is adding light bars to the factory bumper. I didn't go for an aftermarket bumper because there's no need for one for the primary use off the Jeep.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...eb14149e63.jpg First step: cut out holes in bumper and leave enough material for tabs. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ccc1acf63a.jpg Second step: Get those tabs to bend in. |
