Looking for best year to buy

Hi,
I want to buy a jeep Cherokee and wonder if someon can advice me which is the best year to buy.
My interest is to drive it in Off roads, sand, etc
I am looking for some between 1991-1998
My idea is also to change entirely the engine (for better performance), so having comments, advice, tips, and expereinces would be very appreciated.
Need also to look for a good supplier of Rebuilt engines.
Thansk

if youre going to replace the engine and drivetrain then it doesnt really matter
just pick your favorite body style. I prefer 91-96 body style best. just looks better to me for an off roader and and theyre cheaper
but 97-01 will have the rest of the parts in better condition. and I heard they just have stronger joints and a few other things reinforced better
and I know youre knew but just for future reference, this belongs in CHAT
good luck on your build sounds like its gonna be a beast

Thanks, jsk..for advice on CHAT AND JEEP,,
The point is that maybe I could buy a 91` but a 98´engine,,,
My concern,,is the computer, kand the gear box.
If I buy same year it won´t matter I suppose, but wanna be sure if I decide for a different year for engine!!
