little blue heep

Well its an 85 XJ. I bought it for $250 with no wheels back in Nov. Finally got around to getting it right. Guy said that his 15yo son had put a clutch in it and afterwards it was still really hard to get in gear. So after adjusting the timing spraying some starting fluid in the early 80's model motorcraft carb we finally got it started. I brought the wheels and tires from my 89 xj and swap them in gave him the money and proceeded the 20 miles back home. Well while floating the gears we made it about half way before the clutch said bye bye. So we put the tow strap on it and pulled it the rest of the way back home. Then switched my tires back to my DD xj and put it on stands. And it sat that way for about 3 months.
This is when I first bought it.

So my plan is to get this thing dependable and then start on the good stuff
so I bought about $600 worth of parts from O'rielly's. I walked out of the store with 3 box's worth of stuff lol. They loved me that day.
Plugs
Wires
Upper/Lower rad. hoses
Coil
Serp. Belt
Starter
Clutch
Carb Rebuild Kit
Tranny, T-case, and diff fluids
and a whole slew of other stuff
to get it dependable
Then I ordered 4 black 15x8's with 4.25 back spacing Crager Soft 8's from Summit for $172 shipped and threw some newish 235's from my old Ford on it to get it rolling.

The PO's had painted the fender flares and the paint was cracked gross looking so I just pulled them off and trashed them. Apparently the paint on the RF fender was cracked really bad and the PO's just put some filler on it and tried to smooth it out or something but it didnt quite work so Ive got to get that taken care of.

So I started to rebuild the carburetor, that someone had rigged up to be a manual choke, that you choke it inside the vehicle and realized that there were about 4 main parts missing and a couple of the linkages were broken:dunno:. So I dropped $300 on a new carb.
Here it is all nice and shiny

Well it never started since I blew the clutch out of it and jumped time bringing it home. So Im putting a timing chain and dampner in it tomorrow. So while I was in between pay checks I decided to pull the chrome drip rails off and paint my old faded grill.
Before

Installed

Didnt like it with all the chrome on the front. So, I pulled the chrome metal pieces and the headlight bezels and painted them too.

Soon to come
Timing Chain - tomorrow
Clutch and Slave cylinder - day after that
Rubicon Express 3.5 Superflex Kit with full packs
32x11.5's
Flat OD green paint
ABSOLUTELY NO CHROME(I hate chrome on most jeeps anyway:sick:)
Sliders(AJ's or might make my own)
Front and Rear bumpers(JCR's or posjeepxj's if he'll buildem' for me)
Roof Rack(stole tactical40cals design, maybe a slight variation)
Cobra CB and a firestick
Some decent sounding tunes
on board air and welder(eventually)
SYE
lockers(havent decided if I want selectables or the aussies)
get rid of the np 207(eventually)
My basic plan is to get this thing to where it will get me in and out of just about anywhere I want to go if and when the ****eth hitteth the fan if you know what I mean(Im a bit paranoid lol). Im not going extreme but just really dependable and capable. It will eventually be my daily driver.
