Lift for my XJ---HELP

I recently bought a 1993 Cherokee Country and im wanting to lift it.I know im going to run 33's whenever i do lift it,i was thinking of a 3 inch lift but what is the best brand or best way to go about it..homebrew or out the box???

If you put 33"s on they will be tight you will have barely any flex and they will rub when you turn. even my 31"x10.50"s on stock rims rub on turns, on a 3.5" lift

so ill be looking at running 31's without cutting the fenders.any suggestions of brands of lifts or how to go abou it???

Iron rock offroad. You can for 33s on 3". You can fit 35s if you want just depends on how much you want to cut and add BUMPstops

i decided to get the rough country 3 inch and run 31s

That's a good choice. I would recommend getting their full leaf packs instead of AAL (add a leaf). It'll be a much better ride and last much longer.

Cause your on stock rims. If you go with a 4 or 4.5in BS you'll be fine. I would go 4.5 to fit 33's or cut quite a bit.

is the full leaf package a whole lot more than the AAL??

Yes, but you won't regret it. If $ is low then do a bastard pack. Just search it on here. I have one for over 3 years now and still love it. Only cost me $40.

If you plan on wheeling then you'll almost certainly have to cut the fenders even with 31" tires unless you run extra long bumpstops, which sorta defeats the entire purpose. My '98 XJ had 31s and a Rubicon Express 3.5" lift which actually netted around 4" but the tires still rubbed the fender at full articulation. They ended up knocking off the stock fender flares so I built my own.

i will more than likely go with the full leaf package then.i have the tools for the bastard pack but would rather keep it simple.

with the 3 inch RC lift i see it doesnt come with the drop pitman arm, will it need to be changed when installing the lift??Nor does it come with the control arms, will stock work??

LeRoy90laredo 11-02-2011 10:36 PM

the rcII comes with the control arms. its a little bit more.
as far as the drop pitman arm, im on 3.5 without it.

what you will want to look into will be a tc drop or a sye.

carolina4x4 11-02-2011 10:41 PM
