LiamLikeNeeson's '89 Jeep XJ Limited 4.0L

My name is Liam and I am in Los Angeles, California (land of the Jeep mall-crawlers😭😭) and I am a senior in high school! So this is my 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited with 183k miles on it. My grandparents bought it new and the passed it down to my parents and now recently it was given to me!! It has had long periods of time in which it say dormant in our garage for years and a back in may I finally pulled together the $2k needed to get it back on the road!! Just barely though. My dad has a '95 Grand Cherokee Orvis and he has been bringing it for fix ups to this one mechanic who is a big time Jeeper so he knows his stuff and is friends with my dad so he is mentoring me on fixing my jeep! He has the same exact model Cherokee that I do so he knows it really well. There were things I couldn't do to fix it so he was able to keep the cost of making it road worthy down to $1,411 so I could have extra money for other stuff. I am currently restoring my paint job because it is heavily oxidized and matted and it is a tedious process and just doing the front left side took me 4 hours but I will scratch off some oxidation with my finger nail here and there to help make it easier to rub it out and restore the color with the paste I got at autozone to deal with oxidized paint. It's possible to recover the paint job but you better be a patient person if you do it yourself!! I do need new tires (going to get the Goodyear Wranglers because of cost and its wear rate) and I installed a 4 new speakers and a head unit because a 26 year old sound system just doesn't really cut it for me😂, but my starter went out last week while I was in Alaska so my dad had to use $80 to replace it for me and I need to replace my engine mounts stat because it's no fun driving around in a 3,350 lb vibrator so that will cost $190 but I will have to make the $80 back because of my starter issue. Apparently this is an issue with Jeeps like mine in which the button on the drivers belt buckle (the female connection) broke and now the seat belt doesn't click in so I have to connect it to the front passenger latch😂 and replacing it will cost $30 just to buy it used. I will update this thread as the novel of fixing up my Jeep unravels!
