Jute pad

In my '95 Cherokee, the jute pad is pretty much gone. I have a roll of carpet pad that was used in the house up in the attic, can I just put that in the car? It's fairly thick pad - about equal to the jute. Or should I buy a new jute pad for it?

Thanks.

I'd look into what temps the replacement stuff is good for, you might find the automotive stuff has a higher temp rating.

The floor can get mighty warm above the cat and exhaust. There have been guys who have had their carpet catch fire.. granted most of these occurances were due to rotted floors that should have been addressed earlier.

I just saw on TRUCKS last weekend they redid the interior of a dodge cummins and they replaced the pad of theirs with house padding. I agree with overland about doing a little research first. Nothing wrong with being well informed. Hope this helped
