That redline mtf is what I'll be running eventually as well. A while ago I was having some shifting problems with my 93 ax-15 and ended up using valvoline's equivalent to synchromesh and so far so good. I only have about 2000 miles on this fluid so I'm just going to wait until it starts getting dark again.

I ll look into that but I read somewhere that even the synchromesh fluids aren't within specs.
I might try Redline MTL because the winter is coming up soon. Only if I can ever find it locally. Lol.

I just went to Evolution Performance across the street from my company. They specialize in building Mustang race cars, but they were able to order 1 gallon of Redline MTL for me. Gonna pick it up tomorrow after work. About $65.

Changed the oil today. It was black as the jeep itself.
Put in Rotella T3 10w30 oil with marvel mystery oil along with mopar filter.
The Fram filter is now in garbage.
Had a friend come over and drive the jeep and listen.
The motor runs real good, with normal lifter tick. No weird noises or anything, that's good.
Went for a drive. He says the bearings in rear axle is really going. The ax15 is strong with plenty of clutch and the throw bearings is still good. (Whew).
Tried to open the rear lift gate but still wouldn't budge at all.
Look like I ether gotta put on new bearing set on the 8.25 or find a junkyard axle. I never ever see a 3.07 axle in a junkyard, ever. I don't want to swap in automatic axles cause I can't afford to go 31's.
Hopefully one of you are willing to donate your rear axle to me?

I run the Rotella 15-40 and a 1549(i think) filter from Napa on a 240k mile engine and get no lifter tick. It also brings the oil capacity up to around 7 qts.
As far as your noisy axle bearings, you could try running some 75-140 in that to see if it will quiet it down some. You're only out a couple bucks if it doesn't..

Just popped the diff cover and drained it... Only 1/2 quart came out and it was very gray in color. Probably the original fluid from 1999, LOL
Before cleaning
After cleaning
Right now the rtv is drying. Gonna tighten the bolts up in an hour then fill it up with 75w140.
