Is this Jeep worthy of a rebuild?

Hello,

I'm new to this forum although I've been a Jeep owner for about 10 years. We have a 1998 two-door with an auto tranny that we're trying to decide what to do with.
It runs well but has a few things that need attention. The car spent it's first 10 years in the dry climate of Utah. We don't drive it any more but I'm not sure if I should just
sell it or rebuild it.

I have a VW bus that gets all of my car-work attention and I'm must not sure if I'm ready to take on a second project. If I try to sell this, do you think there will be any interest? OR if I work to rebuild it, does it have the 'bones' to be worth the effort?

Thanks,

Jeff

Any thoughts?

I'm about to take this to the junk yard. It's been in my driveway since August and we simply need the space. Hate to see it go to salvage.

Thanks,

Honestly, its probably a really good parts jeep, or one heck of a project. The 2 doors with tan interior are not really that common, and if you put some work into it, it will last awhile. How serious is the rust? Perhaps if you list it for sale on the forum, you most likely will find someone who will buy it, instead of it going to a scrapyard. It may not sell for $10,000.00, but it will probably sell. Does it run and drive well (no stalling or odd noises)?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it runs and has been a daily driver for the past several years. I agree that it's not a perfect specimen but just hate to see it go to the scrap pile when there might be an interested person who has the inclination for a project.

Thanks so much. I'll hold off and see if I can generate some interest here or on Craig's list.

Congrats.

I think you could definitely get interest on here or on craigslist. These jeeps are getting more and more rare. If you can hang on to it for a little while, it will almost definitely sell, probably for a decent price, more than a scrap yard would offer you. Just curious, where are you located?

Thanks for the replies. I’m located in Rochester, NY but am originally from the Salt Lake area in Utah. I didn’t put an add on KSL.com in Utah but as of yet, have had no responses.

You’re right, I need to take my time.

Thank You
