Im amazed the conversion went so well.
I wouldn't knock anybody for doing it, it isn't that bad.

I got a Procomp 3.5" Lift kit, w/ Daystar 1.750" Spacers

I rattle canned these blue, my buddy pointed out that the paint will probably flake off when springs start to compress. Any truth to this?

have fun with those rear leaf bolts....make sure to use lots of pb blaster and a propane torch. dont break them....and your gonna need a huge breaker bar.

coils on mine were easier then the leafs. and if you have a trailer hitch, forget about getting the rear bolts out w/out taking it off...i ended up cutting the rear bolts.

although i dont know how hard the lower control arms are.

nice so far.

posjeepxj 04-09-2010 08:28 PM

You kinda messed up on buying a a fix arm kit and then puting spacers on top. throws the geometry off a little. nice so far though

sc0r1a 04-09-2010 10:34 PM

Unless there is a flex agent in the paint there is a good chance it'll flake

nice man. looking real good. nice score on the free 31s!

CodeXJ 07-19-2010 04:54 PM

Sweet!

Heh, even looks like my '93. Gonna be doing the conversion too, picking up my '94 donor vehicle tonight. Probably wont go as fast, though. I'm gonna rebuild the '94s motor and use it to minimize downtime. Looking forward to seeing it on the 31s :)

sandaddik2 07-19-2010 05:34 PM

do you already have the rack on it? ive seen a white one like that around bakes with a little lift. i used to drive my red xj down there sometimes with about the same lift and tires.

NosferatuMan 08-01-2010 12:22 AM

alright, finally found some time to work on the heep.
made my way to pick your part.

This axle upgrade is the 2nd best thing i ever did to my heep. The difference was amazing. My wife had done a 360 out of a parking lot into a curb one day, and bent the axle. With new rear end she rides a lot smoother, breaks dont rub, less unsettling noises, parking break will lock up the back tires for those kudos points around corners (project gotham reference). Im really stoked. Now my wife isn't so afraid to drive it.

I also upgraded the Instrument Cluster, Yay Gauges!! no more dummy lights.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...er-upgrade.jpg

for anybody thinking about doing this go for it.
super easy. just make sure you grab the back water temp sender, cause your new instrument cluster wont work with the old one.
take with you a 13mm deep socket, to back the temp sender off.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...nt-cluster.jpg

and make sure you replace oil pressure sender
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...nt-cluster.jpg
i didn't get a shot of where it is located, but it is right under your distributor.

take vise grips or Chanel locks, to back half of the oil press sender off, then use an 1-1/16" open end wrench to back the rest of it off.

i also found an elec fan, fan shroud, and had the radiator rodded out. so im running alot cooler now. and the new gauge tells me so :)

Gotta love Pick-N-Pull! good deals. I just dont like the way the support their vehicles. Good find!

Cherokee_Laredo 08-01-2010 01:55 AM

I guess Im glad my 1991 came with the guage cluster. I thought all newer models came with the guage style ones.

NosferatuMan 08-01-2010 04:45 AM

i have the base model, any pioneer, sport, or chief. will have the gauges.

XxXJ99xX 08-01-2010 08:19 AM

Looks like that old XJ is coming together really well, and what gearing did you get in your 8.25? Ive got 3.55's in mine and im thinking they might need an upgrade.

XJ4life92 08-01-2010 12:00 PM

wow, that pick a part is realllly nice, you can actually lay down and work under a car...both by me have rocks, and oil and broken glass every where...making it kinda hard to do anything under a car. nice axle! looking good. i got a rustys 3 inch, and i just got some 15x8 with 3.75 inch backspacing put on...i havent put the lift on yet, making it look all nice (craigslist $150)

before the picture was resized you could see 3.54 gearing on the dana44 axle. same with the 8.25.
