Jeep high performance
I know jeep engines are not meant for high performance.
But. my next door bud did his 96 4.0 crazy : bored.10 on the block ,shaved .10 off head, found some performance pistons , new ring and bearings, custom crank and cam, complete msd ignition .k&n open air filter, new performance injectors. custom header ,cat back 2" exhaust system ,plus many more, now he thinking of adding a turbo charger, bottom line he had the engine tested on a dyno and got 303hp at the flywheel!! who knew these 6's could push that kind of power? |
pics or it doesnt exist
|
505 performance. look them up. they got over 500 out of the 4.0 block and stock head at the wheels.
And yes they can make some power! i run the following and love the power it makes: MSD 6aL box MSD coil MSD 12 spark plug wires copper spark plugs gapped to .55 intake bored throttle body to 62 mm performance Ev6 style injectors exhaust is full mandrel bent 2.5", high glow magna flow cat, glass pack muffler stock header new down tube kept up on oil changes and regular maintenance like i said i have plenty of power and i have 3.07's with 33's. i am sure i am forgetting something.... but you need to remember the engine is an equal lateral triangle consisting of: spark, fuel, air. you need to increase all sides to keep it an equal lateral triangle and to keep everything balanced. I wish you best of luck man! |
here is that article:
http://www.505performance.com/Features.html middle of the page. stroked it out to 5.0L 558hp 674torque while on the dyno. all off of a 4.0L block. |
I just can't believe that they shaved .100" off the head and bored it .100" over.....That's a bit ridiculous....

yeah it is..... as it is 505 only went .060 and that is insane! i think you(the OP) mean 0.010 not 0.100.... The displacement and material left in the block would be so small that that much power would just destroy the block.. not to mention you would not be able to run it on street gas.... MAYBE on propane or on E85.... but i doubt it....

Yeah sorry about that .dam fat fingers I meant 0.010.
|
So 303 hp is not a stretch. Awsome!! tnx for the info.
