Jack the XJ, a rebuild thread of sorts.
Got this jeep off a fellow club member, and it had seen better days. It will be a slow process to get it where i want it to be, but it will get there eventually.
It's a 1997 Cherokee SE, with 229k on body, motor has less than 15k or there about on it. Has a 4.5" zone lift on it(with fixed lowers), Lock rite locker in the HPD30, 31" tires(mismatched set, GT Radials and BFG), JKS adj track bar, Spectre cowl intake and some sort of aftermarket muffler. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...76311542_o.jpg The Current "Plan" is to get it running and driving correctly, it needs a flexplate and a few minor things. I do however have a giant pile of parts awaiting install. As well as a decent plan for the future of this jeep. Parts Purchased or made: New Flexplate(not pictured) Viair 2.5gal air tank Viair Air compressor(325C) Misc other Viair install components Rough Country Adjustable Uppers(ruff stuff heims on order) Cobra 25NWT CB radio Firestik 4' CB antenna 31" BFG AT KO's with 60-70% tread on them(will be delivered 3-26) Custom front and rear bumpers 2x2 20w Flush Mount LED pods Anchor OEM replacement motor mounts(not pictured) Moog Ujoints(not pictured) Custom sway bar disconnects https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...c0&oe=57939FA8 Pile of parts https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...82&oe=57806EEE The front bumper that is going on my Jeep. I will be having it modified a bit though. Winch plate, hoop, light tabs and gussets for the winch plate will get welded on. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...e1&oe=577FCD7C Rear bumper. I have brand new Nut strips coming from a forum member. I should actually have them tomorrow. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...42424150_o.jpg The LED pods that will become my reverse lights. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d1&oe=574C2943 Sway bar discos. Like I have said progress will be extremely slow but its not because i dont have the money to work on the jeep, it's exactly the opposite. I have actually injured my Elbow and it requires a replacement, so i will do as much as i can with one arm. I however have an awesome group of Jeepers that i call family, they will be helping me out a ton on this build with in the next few months. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...4a&oe=574C5774 That is right after the botched cortisone shot(Dr hit the bone). I can no longer extend my arm past the 90-100* position, it cracks and pops if i try and force it. The root cause of my injury is a genetic bleeding disorder(Hemophilia) coupled with severe Arthritis, it was exacerbated by my repetitive job at work, so i am currently out on workmans comp, but will be transitioning to Short Term Disability and then Long Term. My company can not create a position at work for me after my replacement surgery. Future Plans for Jack: 33x12.50x15 tires(unsure of what to go with yet) 15x8 4"BS wheels(Bart Racing) Cut and Fold rear quarters(rust) Smittybilt 9500lbs XRC waterproof winch Custom In-Cab winch controlls Dual Battery setup TJ Flares Repaint(Implement paint, Massey Ferguson Gray) Roll on Bedliner(Black, roof and body line down) 2x6 Steel rocker replacement Redo Headliner(Gray or Green Plaid) Cavalier Seats(already have) Fix minor holes in DS front floor I have tons more in my head that i am planning but i am unsure of everything yet. This is the newest picture i have of Jack: https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...c7&oe=577CA784 The green stickers on the fender are gone now. |

Yea, all my previous jeeps have had OBA of some sort. i find it easier to use than using the crappy *** compressors at the ORV parks here. and when we are on the trail it makes repairs easier too lol.
On Saturday a friend and I(more so my friend) did the ujoints on Jack that were supposedly replaced last spring with ones from Autozone. Come to find out that neither Axle ujoint was done(they are still good), the Front ujoint at the axle was so bad it had 1/2" deflection in any direction. and one out of the two on the rear shaft was actually an Autozone brand joint. the other two that were replaced one was an original Spicer 1310 joint and the other from O'rilieys. Needless to say the jeep drives so much better now, and i can actually drive faster than 45mph with out my fillings being rattled out. |
