Yea I have a newbie thread going on the JK forum website but I need to start up a build thread. This one will be super slow as building a JK is super expensive compared to a XJ. That is one part I defaintly miss. I just couldn't spend as much time as I was in the garage wrenching on mine anymore so even though I never made it to the trails with it I learned a lot about XJ's and met some really good friends. In fact the trip I took last weekend was with all XJ's and they welcomed me into thier group. I met them prior to having the JK.

The JK is also my DD at the moment so I don't plan on anything crazy and breaking it, though breaking and fixing it is the fun part! My bank account will tell me its not.

Cue: sad trombone music.

As the owner of several projects, never give up, never surrender.

Also as the owner of several projects, not having time, money or space for more is a fact of life. Best of luck in the realm of mall crawlers.

There is more to the tossing in the towel then I admitted. Family comes first and I it was not the expenses that bothered me but rather I was spending every waking moment in the garage and no time with the family. Something had to give! Everything else just made it easier to make the decision.

Mall crawlers my ***!!! LOL My Jeep is a DD but I have already been off road with it and continue to do so. Just becuase it is a Wrangler does not mean it will only see the streets. I have seen tons of XJ's on here which are pretty enough to be mall crawlers themselves.

Apprieciate the words of encouragement!

The JKs are slowly becoming less mall crawlerish as the new JLs come off the line... I've been looking at older 2dr base models to see what I could afford but not on delivery boy status lol. 6 more months of school, then maybe if I can land a job... A new 2 dr JL fully loaded off the lot is 50k. 50k!!!!

If you get the opportunity look into finding a cheap Rubicon. Hard to find but they have all the goodies ready for off roading. Minus the after market stuff you want but locked axles and sway bar discos, rails, etc. all extra benefits that you will add on later and cost you. Mine is the 2 door sport but I love it!!! One day when I can afford lockers at least for the rear I will. Picking up some Rubicon sliders today on CL cheap so that will help for now.

Sorry to see you go! But I agree - family is more important. You've got your priorities straight.

Best of luck with the JK - hopefully you'll spend more time in it with your family than under it wrenching alone!

Same sentiments here...

As you come about for the next tack... may the wind fill your sails and the sea be light!

It has been a privilege to have passage on the same vessel with you sailor...

Thanks! And thanks to everyone for your continued support. It is funny as I found a XJ online for like $350 over this past weekend and I was so tempted to grab it and just slowly work on it but then my senses kicked in and I couldn't. If i had some property and a house to instead of military housing I would have bought it and just parked it until I can get to it.

I have a good feeling in a couple years I will have another one!

Since I haven't really got a build thread going on else where for my JK figured I toss another photo or two up here so you guys can see. Added a few new things to it some you can see others maybe not. Hope everyone is doing well and flame if you want I know this is XJ forum.

Rubicon sliders on it now, hilift jack mounted on hood, not able to see in photo is quick discos for front sway bar. Oh that's because they not installed yet but coming lol.

Also don't remember if I posted any of my trip photos up from Browns Camp OHV in Oregon. With all XJs on this trip. Super fun and some trails were a bit scary but nevertheless fun!
