So i bought her about a year ago. 2000 cherokee auto 179500 on it now, slapped a RC 3" lift w/ full leaf packs, lower control arms, 31" Goodyear Wrangler authority's, 15x8 black pacer soft 8s, Tom woods SYE and drive shaft, 62mm throttle body with RR spacer, DYI intake. I also put a thrush muffler (the welded flowmaster looking one not a glasspack). which in my opinion sounds alot better then flowmaster and i have had them both on this jeep. I got rid of the manual clutch fan and swapped in an electric fan. She has always had a coolant leak i could never find:dunno: and its been getting worse.... cracked head:brickwall: . So what do i do TIME FOR REBUILD!! WOOT
so i pulled the motor from my 99(my toy the black jeep below). Sent it to the machine shop, crank is being polished, head milled, bored .030 over. standard valve job, rods being reconditioned, new bearings blah blah blah. i ordered a comp cam, speed pro pistons and that pretty much catches you up to this point. I plan on doing Harland sharp roller rockers and a JBA header. thanks for looking ill post some pics of my both my jeeps soon. |

i got a call from the machine shop yesterday and the valve springs, locks, retainers and seals are all wrong from comp, so i have to send the whole kit back and now I'm getting a custom ground cam, and all the above from a local shop. sigh........

Well i finally got my head and block back from the machine shops. i Started to get some more painting done . Just the block and head will be green. Just an FYI for anyone else Comp Cam kit DOESN'T fit as a kit. about the only that will work is the cam, timing chain, lifters. My head was basically at a nightmare.
Great looking build. Can you give more details about the Comp Cam and how it doesn't work with everything? I am in the process of building a stroker and wanted to use this cam possibly, but it seems like I may need to rethink this
There are a few threads about it but basically the springs, retainers, locks and seals where all wrong. comp doesnt make a kit for anything above a 89, although summit sells one it wont work. The cam, lifters, timing set are all good.
