Hunterdog gets a Jeep
This is my first attempt at toying with a Jeep. I have played with a bunch of cars over the years. My style has always been keep it clean and don't get too far away from stock.
I just picked up this 2000 Cherokee, it was traded in at my work and is clean as hell. My plans are to upgrade the stereo, put a mild lift on it and add some cool crap here and there. Being a family man I don't have an endless supply of cash so this will take some time. Darn family wants to eat every day now.
I was desperate to upgrade the stereo since it had a crappy JVC unit and stock speakers in it and the door speakers weren't working (broken wires in the doors). I hit up Best Buy and dropped $274.00 of my hard earned cash for an Alpine head unit and some Polk Audio 6 1/2 speakers.
The Polks fit perfectly without any modification at all. Just had to drill some fresh holes. Added a little sound deadening material to the door.
The rears were just as easy as the front. Added a little sound deadening back there too.
Alpine head unit to finish it off.
I was pretty impressed with the sound right off the bat and then I found the Loud control on the Alpine and it took the sound to a whole different level. I was going to look for a small sub to add to the system but I don't think I need to. It sounds really F'n great! Best $274.00 I ever spent. I am listening to music I don't normally listen too. I am going to borrow my daughters iPod tomorrow

Light upgrade
Time to upgrade the headlamps. Ordered my Autopal lamps and a Putco harness from Amazon and they showed up today. I went with Sylvania Silver Star bulbs since I have used them many times before and I like their output and life span. I put the lamps in today, I'll do the harness when I get some spare time.

Thanks. I picked it up for around 4500.00
I am still amazed at how clean it is. The owner took great care of it and I am going to continue to do the same.

Weather was pretty nice out today so I decided to run my headlamp harnesses.
Then I decided since I am running new wires and I am going to have the grill off I might as well get some new lamps.

Relays for the headlamps. Had to locate the Hella relay in a different location since I cracked the mounting tab off of it.
Perfect spot for harness grounds.

One thing I am really missing on my XJ is cruise control. I took a short trip on the expressway last night and I decided I need to look into some cruise control for the Jeep.
Hit up eBay today and found several factory kits available. Ranging from $399 to $699. Yikes. I put in an offer and got one for a much more reasonable price. Can't wait to get it and put it in. I will post some pics when it comes in.
