Default Homemade Roof Rack Pics/Tips Needed

Hey y'all I'm new to this site, but I've been looking for a plan to build a roof rack for my 1999 Cherokee XJ Sport. I've found some instances where people have built their own, and was wondering if anyone here has done it and if they'd share pics. I'm trying to come up with a design so I can build one myself, so any pictures or help would be appreciated. I'm looking for more of a professional look (as close as you can get, I know it won't look as good as the ones you can buy) rather than a "I found stuff in my garage and threw it on my roof" look. Pics/ tips?

I think you should have put this thread in general chat or fabrication?
Anyway, here is my conduit rack. Have $50 in it total.

A good place to check is the Trimble Sketchup 3D warehouse: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/sea...ty&q=roof+rack

There are some good ones (and not so good ones) that you could resize for an XJ... If you want a rendering done, let me know.

I like this roof rack:

Late on this reply, but I like the rack. What all'd you use to build it?

I was looking at building a rack too and someone suggested making one out of conduit as well. Did you weld all that then?

You can use 3/4" conduit for the main and 1/2" for the crossbars. Looks like he did the same as me.
I used 3/4" conduit with 90 degree pre-formed bends. Couplings hold the conduit together along with the 3"x5" Strong-Tie plate with sheetmetal screws/bolts keeping the top even with the bottom. I set the top shorter so there is an angle at the front in case I wanted to add a wind deflector, which I never did. Everything is still holding up 2 years later.
