Head gasket went again with no overheating since the last time it went. I had the head machined last time I did the gasket so I figure it must be something with the block that is off causing the headgasket problems. Also, it's been a little noisy at low rpms in the bottom end for a year and a half or so. It's a Toyota 8" with an e locker out of a 3rd gen 4Runner.

Other than the e locker, why a Toyota 8"? Removeable third member? Seems like a lot of work for something I would assume is no stronger than an 8.25.

30 spline, non c clip, cheaper replacement parts, 6 lug (to match the front axle I plan), close to stock width, easy to find parts for and swap in a new 3rd if I break a ring and pinion, and it's different. I was looking at doing a d44 front and rear, but the front d44 uses the same size u joint I'm breaking now and ox Lockers front and rear alone is $2200. With the axles I plan I paid $220 for the rear axle. Need to buy perches and shock mounts and it's good to go in. Front axle is $800-$900 for the housing with chromoly inner shafts. Then I just need birfields, an e locker 3rd, brackets and knuckles. So I'd be probably $2000 or less into a full complete axle swap instead of $2000 in just Lockers with the same size u joint I break now

Oh and they have a lot of ground clearance.

I've thought about the strength and swapability of yota axles. Looking forward to this

My roommate has beat his buggy with 36s, 37s, and 38.5s and he only broke 4 cylinder diffs, and one birfield with 38.5s and steel beadlocks, but mine will have v6 diffs so hopefully everything will hold up.

Well unfortunately the Toyota axle swap is being put on hold. I sold the rear axle I had to fund the motor build it now needs. I will hopefully finish up the "poontank" soon and get to tearing into this one.

That is one sweet ride you got! You should probably just leave it like that.

How do you think I'm paying for the cage and the motor. Those 35s were worth money man
