Haha! I'll just have to put the lift on and see. If it's got the vibe your talking about, I'm definitely putting that SYE in though.
If I put in shims and a TC drop kit, could I get away without the SYE?
I know I sound like I'm just trying to compromise instead of fix the problem, but I'm trying to stay within a decent budget range.

Why waste the time, money and energy to lower a transfer case after you've just spent a lot of the same lifting the entire rig for greater articulation and GROUND CLEARANCE.

If you stop and think about it....it doesn't make any sense to use a t-case drop.

here, you be there judge.

That's great info to know! I decided on RE's 3.5", so I'm staying lower.
I'm probably just going to run 31/10.50R15's, that's plenty for me.
This is also going to be my DD.

Yeah! You should put 32s on yours!
31s also look good though, and you wouldn't have to trim the fenders.
I'm going to put 31s on mine.

hey there, i seen you were looking for help about you XJ. i have on mine is a 4.5 RC with 2 inch coil spacer with addaleaf with 2 inch block in the rear. i have the control arm drop down brackets with pitmanarm drop down, i also have the adjustable drop down track bar. i am want to exstend my brake lines but dont really care right now. my XJ is a roadpounder she is also 2wd right now, im converting her to 4wd once i get back from afghanistan. she drives great with out a SYE and Tcase mount dropdown spacers. but once i get the 4wd in her i will add them things. i have pics on my profile if you want to see.

31s are the best tires for a DD XJ IMO. i wouldn't rush with the sye. i mean it's great to have one. but,
1. u might not need it
2. transfer case drop should suffice
cheapest sye is about 100 bucks plus about 25 for a jy driveshaft.
a TC drop is about 40 bucks, or can be made out of a 1x1 square steel tube, aluminum bar...
and yeah, it will wear out your motor mounts faster, but we're not talking faster as in tomorrow morning. we're talking years down the line.
i'd save every penny for small power adders, because 31s are gonna take a toll on your gas mileage.
