My grandpa bout this jeep used in 96. It had about 80k on it and was a national geographic jeep (in South America if I remember right). I was 10. I was also the one grand child out of 30 or so to be lucky enough to grow up on one of his ranches. My grandfather and I spent a lot of time together in this jeep. Between haulin cattle, pullin stumps, checkin fence lines and traveling to and from his 3 other ranches we've racked up some miles in that jeep.

As it usually works when I turned 18 I left home, screwed around for a few months then got serious and joined the navy. I was a submariner out of Georgia for around 6 and a half years then a recruiter in louisiana for another 3. Somewhere in the middle of that my grandfather finally got old and sold off those ranches one by one. The final one, that I grew up on, went to my uncle along with the jeep were it's been sitting under a pole barn.

After some convincing, I managed to pry it from my uncle for $500. It has just shy of 300k now and hasn't seen a paved road since 2010.

So my plans are clean it up and get it running right, 4.5 inch old man emu lift, 32s, lunchbox locker up front, arb bull bar up front w/winch, a snorkel, and something like a true trac in the rear. Either way I'll keep Yall posted on the progress I make on Grand Paul's jeep

Changed the radiator and added a 160* thermostat. Gonna change the rest of the fluids soon enough. Also pulled the doors off for some summer cruising.

As far as lockers go what are yall running? Ive had several vehicles with truetracs and i think i would like to use one in the rear. I dont plan to go too huge on the tires so i figured for the front a cheapo lunchbox locker would work. Any input?

Been cruising the jeep here and there the last few days. Really love having the doors off. Especially since there is no a/c. Found alittle something wierd happening with the speedometer. When I first start it the speedo goes all the way around past 100mph and stays there till I get over 40mph at which point the speedo comes back to 80mph. After a couple minutes at speed the speedometer will come back and read the proper speed.

What the heck is that all about.

The jeep is my new dog carrier. They seem to enjoy the lack of doors as much as I do.

So far so good. Been putting a few miles on the jeep cruising around town with my kids. Wondering it it would be worth it to change gear ratios in these axles or if I should find some axles from a rubicon. Any input?
