Gibby's '91 Cherokee Limited Build
Well I decided to start my build thread to kind of have a little more motivation to keep at it. Keep myself wanting to get things done so I can post the progress! Comments, advice and questions are very welcome as I'm pretty new to the whole serious off-roading world. Thanks, and let the fun begin!

Sweet another build keep us posted i'll be following the build.
What are your plans for your rig? |
Well here's what my Jeep looked like the first time I saw it early last Summer. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...aw-my-jeep.png

u're jeep looks good already!!!
|
Well the list of plans is HUGE, but at this point I'm just doing what I can in my spare time. Which, since I'm currently between jobs is pretty much every day heh heh. Eventually I want to get it lifted, good tires, nicer wheels, Olive Drab paint job, snorkel, rhino-lined floorboards, you get the idea. Thanks for watchin, there'll be more tomorrow!

Thanks! But it's definitely far from perfect.
The first thing I did was get a second seat cover (fortunately found the exact match for the passengers side) cause the previous owner had ruined the nice leather seats. Sucks, but oh well. Plus he had a really really sweet system in it (giant sub, two amps, and speakers galore topped off with a really nice dvd player/head that was to die for) which he just unceremoniously ripped out very roughly and didn't leave me with much to work with. Bad wires, no speakers, no nothin! So the other on-going project is trying to redo the whole system. I've got a head unit and a couple nice speakers (4.5" I think) for it so the front door panels have been off for awhile. Besides that most of the interior wiring for the lights and all that are bad. Then you have the exhaust system which is shot to heck. The entire underside of the muffler is missing so it sounds like a huge V-8 with straight pipes right now, and I'm pretty sure the cat is awful too. We'll see!! So that's the bad. The good is the engine runs super well, even for its 215,000+ miles and I've fallen in love with Jeeps. Plus I'm having a ton of fun so I guess I can't complain! |

My exhaust is being held together by mud... and I still pass emmissions testing lol |
I saw this pic when I was searching around for ideas online and it's basically what I'd like to go for, with of course various modifications and whatnot. It is from BudgetXJ's photobucket. http://i390.photobucket.com/albums/o...beonedayXJ.jpg

No kidding! That's one of the main reasons. The sucker's so loud right now! Fortunately I got a muffler recently so that'll cut down the noise pretty well, then when I get the speakers to co-operate we'll be in great shape! Thank God we don't have emissions tests in Wisconsin! Ha ha!

Oh, minus that tent in the pic I just posted above. I don't really want one of those lol.
|
That tent is sick-nasty. Once my kids get a little bigger, I plan on making a setup like that. Nice find though.
|
Well right now I'm getting ready to paint my grille and headlamp bezels black. The driver's side one needed a little glue for some cracks and while it was off I decided I'd kill two birds with one stone and clean and paint it and the others while it's off. So at the moment my Jeep is sorta naked in the front area. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...g-tomorrow.jpg
|
That tent is pretty sweet. I just wouldn't want it on all the time ya know? If it comes off easy then heck, I'm game.
|
I went out to the garage today to get busy with the paint and discovered that I am completely out of black. So... I used the chrome.
Here's a before shot of my grille and headlamp bezels: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...come-black.jpg And here's the "after": https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...hey-i-like.jpg Now to wait for 'em to dry and try 'em out! |
Looks sweet. I am going to do my grill soon also.
